I haven't met Patt's friends, yet. He said they took a rain check.
"Bro has to do chores for health inspection after school and Shortcake has a meeting with the mafia crew," he told me at the library, holding his phone out.
"Huh?" That sounds kinda racist, after finding out China's actually Chinese.
"That's what they're called. She even calls them that," he says, a little annoyed.
"Oh." Now, I see why he gets annoyed when people think he's being racist when he says "mafia".
It's just me and Patt at the library, doing homework and studying until the library closes, which's at 4:30. School dismisses at 2:30PM from 8AM. Obama usually opens at 8AM to 3PM. Breakfast here starts at 7:30AM, just like Obama's.
This evening.
I've completed all of today's homework for the rest of the afternoon. I only had Chemistry and Geometry for today, my last two classes on Day B's. I don't get the numbers, but I get the shapes. I need to get both to pass this class. Chemistry wasn't so bad. We didn't just read outta textbooks and answer the questions. We actually did experiments. Of course, we have to work with our lab partners.
I walk to my desk to log on to Facebook. Barbie and Christie are sitting side-by-side next to my laptop.
"Hey, my babies. I missed you today. I see you two are getting along," I say to them. I pick both Barbie and Christie up to kiss them on the foreheads. "I love you, girls. I'll always be by your sides." If I have a daughter, I'll give Christie to her once she's three, and keep Barbie all to myself.
I log in as Gracie Roberts. I got notifications. All of my Obama friends liked my background of poppa, momma and me in St. Jude's hospital, two friend requests from Heterochromian Patt and Kevin Kelly, and a message from Brandy Brooks. I Googled him and there were a lot of memorial pictures of him. They made me cry. I accept both requests and click on Brandy.
Brandy Brooks: Hey, girl! I miss you! How are you in Pasadena?
I smile that Brandy reaches out to me. That's really thoughtful of her. I type her back.
Gracie Roberts: Hey, girl. I miss you, too. Pasadena's a'ight. How's Obama doin'? Send.
I read that Brandy read my message and the buffering bubble pops up.
Brandy Brooks: It's the same, but Jackson is different now.
Jackson? The anti-Christ? Different? Wow. I type her back.
Gracie Roberts: Like how different? Send.
This is something different, alright. I curiously watch the buffering bubble.
Brandy Brooks: He became kinder to us. Not just us. To everyone. He became the most popular guy of Barack H. Obama Academy AND Malcolm X Middle. He even sits with us during lunch. Turns out, he's left-handed like you. Rhashaad also sits with us.
Wow. Once I'm gone, the anti-Christ turns good? Something's up. I type her back.
Gracie Roberts: Have he even annoyed anybody, today? I know it was just a week. Send.
She reads my message. A buffering bubble pops up....
Brandy Brooks: Nope. He also apologized for how he has been treating you and us. He still has this tendency to be psycho, though, because of his condition. He told us to put him in check before he does something.
Okay, is it just me, or does Jackson sound sincere? Psychopaths aren't sincere. I bet he's sorry because I'm not around for him to pick on anymore. I type her back.
