A Family's Betrayal
(Siddharth)
"Mom, what are you doing here?" I asked her, my surprise turning into concern. She hadn't mentioned anything about coming to the office today, let alone visiting Ved's office. As I turned my gaze towards Ved, his face contorted into a mask of seething anger. His hands were clenched tightly in his pockets, his whole body radiating an intense and simmering rage that sent shivers down my spine. It was clear that the mere presence of his mother was enough to ignite the flames of his fury.
I looked back at my mom, who seemed oblivious to Ved's anger. She wore a slightly annoyed expression on her face, seemingly unfazed by the storm brewing in the room. I couldn't comprehend the depth of Ved's hatred towards his own mother, but it was palpable in the air, suffocating any semblance of peace that remained.
"Well, I came to see Ved," my mom explained, her voice laced with irritation. "I heard what his wife did to this company, and I wanted to ask him why he still hasn't asked her to leave?" Her words hung in the air like a match waiting to ignite the powder keg of Ved's wrath.
Ved's jaw tightened even further, his eyes narrowing into dangerous slits as he locked his gaze on his mother. The intensity of his anger seemed to materialize, swirling around him like a storm on the horizon. His silence spoke volumes, conveying a deep-rooted resentment that refused to be silenced.
Meanwhile, Arohi stood near Ved's table, her expression a mix of annoyance and displeasure. She shot me a brief, disinterested glance, clearly irritated by my presence in Ved's orbit. I sighed inwardly, fully aware of the tension that gripped the room, the fragile balance between past and present threatening to shatter.
But it was my mother's next words that pierced through the charged atmosphere, adding fuel to the fire. "But I think he will do it soon because now the love of his life has returned to him," she said, her voice tinged with both sympathy and satisfaction. Her glassy eyes met Ved's, a mix of pity and triumph reflecting in them.
Ved's face contorted further, his anger reaching its peak. He turned away abruptly, unable to bear the weight of his mother's words any longer. The intensity of his emotions crackled in the air, creating an almost tangible aura of fury that seemed to consume the room. His intolerance of both women was on full display, his impatience and resentment burning beneath his skin, threatening to erupt at any moment.
"I know that girl was not worthy to be his wife. It's our damn luck that we found out about her true nature so soon," she hissed with seething contempt.
I attempted to speak, but Ved's eruption shattered the silence like a volcanic explosion. "Shut the hell up!" he bellowed at her, his voice thundering through the room. Every sinew in his body tightened with an overwhelming fury, and I could practically see the flames of anger dancing in his eyes. His hands trembled violently, like a coiled beast ready to pounce.
"Shut your filthy mouth! Open your damn ears and listen up. This is the final warning. Don't you dare speak ill of my wife again. She is not what you think she is. She is nothing like you. Got it?" Ved's words were laced with a venomous rage, each syllable dripping with contempt. His narrowed gaze pierced our mother's soul, piercing through her like a sharpened blade. The clench of his teeth and the fire in his eyes conveyed an unwavering resolve.
Our mother appeared momentarily taken aback, but her determination remained unyielding. Ignoring the volatile atmosphere, she pressed on, her voice rising defiantly. "Why the hell are you still supporting her, Ved? She showed her true colors, and yet you continue to defend her?" she spat, her voice dripping with accusation.
