Ch. 3

Caleb

I didn't plan on even coming to Target today but I guess everything works out for a reason.

When I looked up and made eye contact with those dazzling blue eyes I was mesmerized. Once she realized how long we had been staring she dropped her gaze I tried to make small talk to hear her voice. Hoping maybe that would make me stop feeling this feeling I have for that girl but it didn't. I think it made me more infatuated with her.

When I got back to the sandwich shop I worked at I couldn't get her out of my head. I tried doing more work than normal but nothing made it stop. It's weird because I have definitely been with my fair share of women but I have never had my breathe just taken away from just looking into her eyes.

I don't even know the girls name for christ sakes. When Alex comes in today after his shift I plan on getting info on this girl to hopefully make this thing i'm feeling for her go away. You could see in her eyes tha-

My thoughts were cut short but no other than Alex walking in with mystery girl. I can't say I expected that. I walk over to them but she isn't paying attention she's looking at the menu.

"Hey dude hope it's cool brought my new friend from work with me today." Alex says as he smirks at me. Why the hell is he smirking?

"Yea no that's fine" I say trying to calm my nerves.

"Aubrey this is Caleb. Caleb this is Aubrey." He says as mystery girl well Aubrey turns to look at me.

"Hey nice to you again Aubrey" I say with a smile on my face trying to act as calm as possible.

"You guys know each other?" Alex asks shocked.

"Yeah we met today at the store she checked me out" I give her a wink because she had checked both me and my groceries out.

"Yeah" she says adding a forced laugh at the end.

The three of us make small talk for a couple of minutes before they order their food.

As we are getting the food ready for them I'm watching through the glass at how natural their conversation is flowing. I'm starting to get jealous that he gets to bond with her but I don't.

Once the food is done I make my way back towards their table.

"Okay here's both of your orders. Alex i'll be done in like 15 today so i'll let you know when i'm ready to go." I say with a casual tone also making sure to see Aubreys facial reactions to see if I can see anything. I can't really tell anything tho.

After I finish up with the rest of my stuff I head back to the table to let them know i'm ready to leave when ever they are.

"How long have you been working here Caleb?" Aubrey asks sincerely.

"Uhh maybe a year.. year and a half at most i'm not quite sure." I try to respond as calm as possible.

"Yeah that what everyone basically told me when I asked them about how long they had worked there. Today was my first job like ever so it was nerve racking because everyone has more experience." Her eyes pop open like she just realized what she had said.

"I get it my first day of my first job I was freaked. The first week I was so beyond nervous and then I realized there's nothing to be nervous about.  It takes practice." I keep my eye contact with her.

"Oh um sorry but i've got to pick up my dog soon so could you please drive me to my car?" she asks Alex.

"Yeah oh my god I completely forgot I have to be at the dentist in 15 minutes is there anyway you could drive her Caleb" He winks at me?

"Oh yeah of course. As long as you're okay with that Aubrey" I try and hold back my smile.

"Yea that's fine. Thank you I enjoyed this just let me know if you guys want to hangout again." She says quickly.

Once both Aubrey and I are in the car I connect my bluetooth to play music.

"I love this song!" Aubrey says smiling.

For the next 5 minutes Aubrey and I just talk about all of our favorite music. By the time we pull up to her car I've learned that we are literally the same people when it comes to music. This girl continues to fascinates me!

"Hey Alex and I do the whole sandwich shop thing everyday you're more then welcome to come" I speak as she starts to get out of the car.

"Oh thank you I'll let Alex know tomorrow at work than-" I cut her off midsentence.

"Here i'll give you my phone number so instead of having to go looking for Alex tomorrow you can just text me and i'll let him know"

When she gives me her phone I try my absolute hardest not to grin but come on that was smooth!

We say our goodbyes and once she gets to her car I immediately call Alex.

"Heyy how'd it go?" I can practically hear him wiggling his eyebrows.

"I got her phone number she's gonna probably eat with us tomorrow too. oh but before I forget I just want to make sure do you have any feelings for her?"
I pray silently that he says no please say no.

"Dude I wouldn't let I girl I have feelings for ride alone with you come on now" I exhale

Thank god I don't know what I would have done if he did. It's not that I have feelings for Aubrey i'm just testing the waters feeling everything out before I can commit to saying I have feelings for her.

My phone buzzes which brings me out of my thoughts. When I glance over it says a random number

"Hey it's Aubrey thanks again for the ride! Just wanted to txt you to make sure you got it :)"

"No problem! Anytime just lmk"

Yeah I think the whole testing the waters thing isn't going to work out that well seemed as I know I have feelings for her.
