Ceralyn's Point of View

AUDITION DAY

I slammed the door of my Lexus car, and Mom peered her head near the window. "Sweetie, good luck!" she called. "You'll be just GREAT!" I smiled slightly, but it wavered and fell.

"Thanks, Mom. Pick me up at 4:30, alright?"

"Okie-dokie! Bye, Lynnie! Don't worry."

Well, that made me feel tons better. Don't worry. Huh. But I waved at goodbye anyway, wondering if she knew just how worried I really felt.

I turned on my heel, and made a beeline to the corner-wall. I slipped a little; there was a light layer of snow and frost. In fact, I was quite lucky I didn't fall, thanks to my new boots. I got to the school ten minutes early, to practice as much as possible during the day, and I didn't want Mom to be with me at home, chiding me on last-minute tips. So, I went to school early.

I muttered some lines of the Baker's Wife, trying not to think about how cold it was, and trying not to feel the butterflies shaking my whole body. This went on and on for a couple more minutes, when I heard footsteps around me. Seeing who it was, my mouth opened a little in shock.

Lo and behold-

Irilie Mandontt.

Irilie's Point of View

Walking over to the girl hunched over a sheet of paper, and reading it intently, I began to realize who it was. Stormy eyes, somehow a gray, with the slightest bit of gold, silvery misty look- very clear- and a greenish-blue tint. Overall, when someone describes it like that, you may not imagine it, but trust me this once, it looks exactly as I tell you. Prettiest eyes, and so unique, though I wouldn't admit it. Soft skin, rosy cheeks from the cold, and the auburn hair. It was getting longer; her hair was up to her shoulders, and a little wavy. Yep. Ceralyn Donnes. My old friend. By the time I was done this evaluation, I reached the corner she was crouching at. Ceralyn seemed to hear the slight slips my feet were made in all this ice, and the crunch of snow, so she looked up. I was standing right in front of her, so of course she sees me immediately. Her lips parted a bit, and after a second or two, she spoke,"What do you want?" Her voice was as cold as the weather.

I shrugged, trying to look indifferent. "Just wondering what you're doing."

She stared at me, and said,"I'm practicing for the play auditions after school."

I was surprised. "But it has some dance numbers in it! You told me you don't know how to dance."

"Well, Irilie," she glared,"If you have bothered to even TALK to me, you wouldn't found out that I've been dancing in a private class now for a month, and I'm quite good, and I have even more to learn. So I can qualify, I'm sure; there's a dancer audition, too, if you want more of a chance to get a lead role," she smirked. "Not that you're prepared for that."

Flabbergasted. I was flabbergasted. "Wha-how...? How did- you know I'm auditioning?"

"Isn't it too obvious?" Ceralyn arched her left eyebrow. "You talk a lot, and loud, to all the people who care, and they care a lot. Don't think I don't have ears; that's how you learn to sing, like me." Did I sense a little too much acid?

"Sorry that I'm so much more popular than you, and probably better than you," I shot back.

Ceralyn had both of her eyebrows raised now. "Probably better? Don't make me laugh, please. You didn't even know there was a dancers' audition! And when will you catch on? If you're sooo much more popular, then how embarrassed will you be when I get to be the star of this play?"

What the HECK? As if! Right? I mean, she's not popular because she's not with me, so how can she be 'more talented' but so weird and such a loner?

"If you do, it'll probably be the only time you get to be the center."

"Oh, I am SO counting on that, Irilie. See you at the singers' auditions! And don't forget, there's a dance audition after, in case you didn't know." Ceralyn smiled, and swept away towered the door, leaving me standing there alone. Like a loner. The bell rang, to make things more cheesy. I walked inside, attempting to look like nothing happened, and I was the one who just dissed Ceralyn, and not the other way around.

But the real question was: How the heck was I supposed to beat Ceralyn?
