"Is it just me or is [y/n] more smiley lately?"

Mimosa's usual smile turned into a frown at Yuno's question, head whipping at the ravenette who observed his senior from afar. "What could you possibly mean, Yuno? As far as I know, they're always grinning from ear to ear."

The both of them were currently watching [y/n] make dolls using your magic. Their back was pressed up against one of the yard's trees, and the porcelains they made did the same; each of them sitting next to their maker. Yuno and Mimosa have been watching them for the past thirty minutes now, but something about the way they would skillfully and carefully mold each part of the porcelain things enchanted their eyes to watch them make more.

"Well, they do but..." The duo watched the
knight craft another doll with a smile on their face, a tune coming out of their closed mouth whilst their fingers travel from one body part to another. "Doesn't it look a little bit forced?"

Just as the orange head was about to retort to his accusation, a familiar voice called out to the both of them. "Mimosa! Yuno! Come now before Sir Gladiolus scolds us for being late again!" Klaus announced as his grimoire hovered in the air, shortly hopping on the metallic ride that appeared behind him.

The two stood up the bench and scurried towards their hurried companion; they too, didn't want to sit through a one hour lecture about the importance of punctuality. The rustles of grass and thumps on the ground made the doll maker lose their focus to the cause of the noise, but then frowned at the sight of their usual audience approaching a vehicle that will take them away.

"Oh. Leaving already?" The soft voice rung through the duo's ears, but Yuno continued on ahead while the royal turned around. Looking directly at her senior's eyes gave her a full view of the almost unnoticeable sadness in them. She wanted to stay longer, but she could only sigh while wearing an apologetic smile took over her face. "I'm sorry, [y/-n], but Captain said this was an urgent mission."

A frown took over [y/n]'s features for a quick second, but their grin returned and their face shined like a beacon once again. "Well, that can't be helped, can it?" Mimosa shyly nodded. "It's quite alright. Perhaps you could help me make more with your plant magic this evening or tomorrow, if you're late."

Mimosa, who has already arrived in Klaus's vehicle, only nodded and bid farewell. [y/n] returned the gesture, but after a couple of seconds dropped their waving hand to get back to work. Placing their palm above the other with a gap between them, a blob formed— and then continued their work.

Unbeknownst to everyone in the yard, they're Captain was listening to the teens conversation about [y/n] earlier. As much as he didn't like to make assumptions or jump to conclusions, he couldn't help but agree to the young boy's statement.

These past few weeks you have been more.. happy. Of course, that was a good thing, but the squad members couldn't quite tell if you wore a facade or not.
