After all that incident, Evelline, Sarah and the boy were rescued. The scepter was taken for analysis and research, along with Sarah and the boy to Downtown, Evelline would go soon after, but only after settling some accounts.
It had been five days since she defeated the Saviors, and finally, the day of her school graduation had arrived. The ceremony was going to be in a college party hall, it had started early, the whole class seemed nervous, everyone could hardly wait to receive their university degree, even Evelline was super excited, despite everything that happened. She only regretted that Sarah could not participate in that moment, which was truly a pity, since all their lives they talked about that moment, but at least, she knew that her friend was safe and out of trouble now.
Each student who received the university degree, gave a short speech, some could not even speak of being so moved, but it was not long before Evelline's turn came, she went up to the stage, where she received her university degree and soon went to give her speech, she had all in mind, when she reached the microphone in the middle of the stage, she spotted someone who made her brake the moment she saw it.
Ethan was in the middle of the audience, looking at Evelline, applauding and smiling, that made her lose her voice for a moment, but then she concentrated again, and gave a short speech, thanking everyone involved for that moment, and regretting Sarah's absence, then she soon left.
When the ceremony was over, Ethan was outside the hall, eating a plate of snacks, Evelline saw him leaving the hall, and was nervous, without knowing what to say, she had not seen Ethan in six months, and the last time they saw each other, she had kicked him out of the case.
She was still standing there, thinking about what to do, when he approached:
- Hi Evelline! - Ethan looked very nice.
She blushed to the max.
- Huh? Ethan? Ahh... Hi!
They looked a little stuck.
- So, congratulations... - he said a little embarrassed.
- For what? - she asked.
- For graduating. - he said in an obvious tone.
- Ahh yes, uh... Thank you. - she felt kind of stupid.
And there was a moment of silence between them, until Ethan said:
- Well, I'm going then.
- Ethan! Wait.
- Yeah?
- Shall we have an ice cream? - she has invited.
And they went to the nearest ice cream shop, ordered the usual and sat down.
Evelline was trying to break the ice:
- Well, I'm sorry for that last time ... You know? For being rude in that way.
- Do not worry, everything is fine.
She felt very relieved.
- How are you doing with that subject?
- What subject?
- Your powers, your grandmother, those crazy guys...
- Ah yes, I fixed them. - she spoke proudly.
- Do not tell me? Well, congratulations again!
And they both laughed.
- A lot has happened in the last six months, Ethan.
- I imagine.
He took a breath and courage, and then said:
- I missed you.
Evelline stopped eating the ice cream for a moment, and said:
- Seriously? Hm... Me too... I missed you.
They were flushed and without speaking for a moment, until the waitress passed:
- Do you want anything else?
- No, thanks. they spoke in unison.
And the waitress left.
Now Ethan had taken courage and broke the ice again:
- What are you going to do now that you have finished your studies?
- I need to go back to my relatives' house.
- Oh...
- Unfortunately.
Evelline noticed how he got down with the news.
- I promise to come visit you when I can.
- The problem is how long it will take. - he replied.
- Do you miss me so much?
- And you will not feel mine?
- Of course yes!
- I'll wait for you then.
After some time talking there, they really made up for lost time, updated everything they had lost in the last few months, Evelline told him about the fight against the Saviors, but she did not tell what the man in the top hat had said, nor about Sarah, the boy and the scepter.
It was already around 3 pm, the sun seemed warm, Evelline and Ethan left the ice cream parlor.
- Ethan, I need to go to the airport, my plane will be leaving in a few hours, I don't want to make you do anything, you know...
- Sure, I'll go with you there.
And she exclaimed very quietly:
- "Yes!"
Ethan accompanied Evelline to the airport departure gate, getting there, she turned to him, and although she was very embarrassed, she kissed him on the cheek and said:
- I will miss you so much, thank you for being with me while I was in Pilgrim! You gave me adventures really... Unforgettable, I would say.
Ethan chuckled and replied:
- I can't wait for you to invite me for an adventure too, you know...
She laughed and hugged him tight.
- See you soon then.
- Bye.
They said goodbye and Evelline boarded her plane.
She was sitting reading a book while the aircraft was maneuvering to take off, she looked out the window and saw Ethan standing in the airport waiting area, waving at her, and Evelline waved back, and thought:
"- I can't describe how I'm going to miss you..."
Then she straightened up on the seat, and while the aircraft was picking up speed, she closed her airplane window.
