Alternate Ending 3

It's 4 fucking am but I refused to sleep till I had this chapter up.. yall better love me😤 (jk lol)

Avelyn found herself surrounded by water.

Knowing well that she couldn't breath while she was beneath it, she swam for the surface, taking a deep breath once her head was out of the water.

"Jeez, thought you'd died" Claude joked.

Claude? Avelyn thought to herself

Of course! I was at her house for the break from school! Idiot.

"Hello Avelyn? Are you still dead?" The girl chuckled as she helped Avelyn out the pool.

"Pretty sure I was" the girl mumbled to herself.

"Let's get dried up" Claude handed her a towl since Avelyn had decided to jump into the pool with her robe on "mum's probably prepared tea for us"

"Are you sure you don't want me to go on a walk with you?" Claude asked the girl "it's getting late. Don't want you getting lost in Cambridge all by yourself"

"Don't worry" Avelyn smiled as she put on her coat "I'll be back soon"

Shutting the door behind her, the girl headed out for a wall by herself to collect her thoughts.

Did they get the sword?

Did I die for nothing?

Do they miss me?

Did Caspian come back?

Is Eustace still a dragon?

Hopefully Lucy isn't too sad.

Great, Edmund is probably mad at what I did.

What about Benjamin and Collin?

Did Collin get-

The girl bumped into an elderly woman walking her dog.

"Sorry ma'am" she apologised

"Don't fret none dear" the lady smiled "watch where you're going though"

Avelyn offered a warm smile before she walked further down the street.

Hope Aslan did the right thing with Collin.

Hope he isn't sent back here.

Is Reep-

"Watch it"

Avelyn muttered an apology to the police man she'd bumped into.

She spun around to apologise, walking backwards now.

"I'm sorry sir" she said with slight embarrassment.

"Ah don't worry" the mad said half heartedly, not wanting to yell at a young girl.

"Hey" another boy complained as she ran into him, since she was walking backwards while she apologised.

The policeman shook his head when he saw she'd bumped into yet another person.

Pull yourself together she scolded herself as she muttered an apology, turning around to walk properly this time.

"What the fuck!"

The girl looked up to meet those familiar chocolate coloured eyes, slightly covered by dark brown bangs getting in the way.

"Edmund-"

"You're not real" the boy laughed as he closed his eyes "oh god, someone slap me right now"

Avelyn smirked and slapped the boy, not too hard, across his face making him jump back a bit.

"Why'd you-"

"You asked me to!"

"But you're not supposed to be here" he said as he maintained eye contact "you're dead!"

"Well can a dead person do this?" She reached up and grabbed him by the collar, pulling him in for a quick kiss on the lips.

"You can't just yell at me, stab yourself and then kiss me!" Edmund said in an annoyed tone and he held the girl by her waist.

He looked at her a bit longer, as if to convince himself she was really there.
"You're here?" He asked, just to make sure.

"Yes" Avelyn put her arms around his neck, not caring that an older couple passing by was giving them funny looks.

"Sorry about earlier" she mumbled, her eyes flickering to his lips "I was just doing what needed to be done"

"You- you stabbed-" Edmund voice cracked as tears welled up in his eyes "you killed yourself in front of me!"

"I'm sorry"

"That doesn't change anything!" The boy used his coat's sleeve to wipe away a tear "I had to carry your limp, lifeless body. I buried you-"

"I'm sorry" Avelyn mumbled again, softly. She wasn't sure what else to say besides that. What else can you say when you literally take your own life in front of the person who's madly in love with you?

"You're a real pain to handle sometimes, you know that right?" The boy grunted as he pulled her close and crashed his lips against hers.

"I'm sorry" Avelyn mumbled again into the kiss, her fingers entangling themselves in the boy's hair.

Edmund pulled her closer, afraid that if he'd let go she'd vanish.

"I love you" he breathed out, "I love you"

Avelyn smiled into the kiss before pulling back.

"What did you say? She grinned.

Edmund chuckled as he wiped away another tear.

"You heard me, don't make me say it again"

"Oh I'll make you say it alright" Avelyn pulled him in for a kiss.

"So, Ed" she mumbled as their lips moulded together "what did you say?"

"I mmh-" Edmund squeezed her waist slightly as she gently bit his bottom lip "I love you Aves"

Avelyn pulled back and grinned.

"And I love you Edmund"

The girl knew damn well that that she wasn't leaving any time soon and it'd probably be a few more hours until she went back.

She made a mental note to come up with some excuse or explanation for Claude as to why she was late while coming back from her walk.
