[TW: Mentions of blood]
Pink had succeeded at her first job. Every crewmate except one was dead. Red had taught Pink that one crewmate per every impostor left was allowed to survive, with the job still having been completed. She wondered why this had been, but she never asked Red. Perhaps it was simply because one impostor can overpower one crewmate. In any case, Pink was glad she didn't have to kill Green. She would try to protect him in any way she could.
As the days went by, the two grew closer. They went through their daily routines, but Pink's hunger grew more and more. She had searched the ship for sustenance, but all the food on the ship was designed for human consumption. She could eat it, but, only live meat could fuel an Impostor. The only living things on the Skeld were Pink and Green.
Pink grew more and more desperate with each passing day. She didn't know how long she could hold out. She wondered if she would even be able to defend Green from the other impostors at Polus in this state - if she even survived that long. Pink was worried. She and Green would both die at this rate. Pink from starvation, and Green from the others at Polus - and Green was none the wiser.
One bleak morning, as Green set out to complete some tasks, he confronted Pink in electrical. "Pink, you've been acting kinda weird lately. Are you alright? You seem like you're sick." Pink inhaled slowly, her hunger draining her. "I'm... okay... Green." Suddenly, out of nowhere, Pink's self-control caved. Shifting, teeth bared, she tackled Green onto the Electrical floor and bit him, right in the chest.
Realizing what she had done, Pink got off of Green and ran out of Electrical. She sabotaged the doors, trapping the weakened Green inside. She sat down, leaning heavily against the wall, trying to think, as her adrenaline slowed. Pink wondered if Green could be saved - she would take him to Medbay as soon as she recovered. Her hunger would be quenched, for now, so maybe Green would be safe if he recovered.
From inside Electrical, a weak voice called out. "Pink...?" She waited for the doors to reopen, now prepared to take care of Green. Back in her human form, Pink took a deep breath. "Green, I'm here. I'm so sorry." She picked up the injured human, carrying him through Storage, then through Cafeteria, towards Medbay. "Pink... what happened? Did... did you... attack me?"
"I promise, I'll explain everything - once I make sure you're okay." She continued forward, walking into Medbay. Pink laid Green down onto a hospital bed, removing his helmet, opening the top of his spacesuit, and taking his shirt off. He'd be fine without his helmet once she got the oxygen mask on him. "Hold this, Green." He complied, lifting an arm to keep the oxygen mask in place.
Pink took another breath, and examine Green's wounds. A large bite spanned across his chest, and the cuts were deep. Fresh blood leaked from each mark. She searched through Medbay's supplies, finding something to stop the bleeding. Once she had sanitized the area, she applied cotton balls to Green's chest. She completed her handiwork by wrapping the cotton in medical gauze. Pink hoped it would be enough. The ship wouldn't have any blood if he needed more.
"Okay Green, I'm done. I'll explain everything now." Green sighed, suddenly feeling too tired to offer a reply. Pink hesitated to begin. "Green... I'm going to tell you something. Please just hear me out." Green nodded. "I'm... not human. I'm an Impostor." Green jumped, removing his oxygen mask to speak. "What? How cou-" Pink stopped him, returning the mask to his face. "Breathe, Green. And hear me out." Green settled a bit, accepting his fate.
"I never wanted to hurt you, Green. From the first moment you smiled at me on the dropship, something changed. I've been protecting you from the beginning. If you're wondering, the only other impostor was Red. And yes, that means you helped me eject another innocent crewmate. But I wouldn't have done this if it was my choice. There are others with more power. If I didn't do this, they would have killed me."
Green considered what Pink told him. Pink... an Impostor. Green was glad that she at least didn't kill him. But, all those people... "Anyway, are you alright?" Pink dug through some more medical supplies and found a bottle of pain medication. "Take this, it will help. You must be in pain." Green took off the mask and downed the medication. Pink looked at him curiously. "Do you think you can stand?"
Gripping the oxygen mask over his face, Green gave his other hand to Pink, who helped him up. He let go of Pink and gave her a thumb-up. "Seems you're good. Here, put your helmet back on." She gave Green his shirt, which he put on, setting down the mask. He got his spacesuit back on and put on his helmet. "All better, except the screaming pain in my chest."
Pink looked at Green sadly and took his hand. "Come on, let's go to the Bunks." Green followed, and the two went down to the Bunks together. Pink took her helmet off, and then took Green's helmet off for him. "Green, I really am sorry about what happened in Electrical, and to the other crewmates. Impostors have to eat living things."
Green frowned. "Well, you were just trying to survive, I guess - wait, if you're trying to protect me, why did you attack me?" Pink sighed. "It's been two months since Cyan's death. I was starving. It was a lapse of control, and I'm still so sorry." Green finally realized Pink had been starving. "Wow... are you okay?" Pink nodded. "As long as you are."
