EJ could hear the laughter all throughout the house. He smiled softly. Ashlyn and Missy were currently in her room, doing who knows what.
All he knew what that a lot of laughing was going on.
Missy and Ashlyn were only talking, when they could manage to squeeze out enough words to string together a comprehensive sentence.
"So, you planning on kissing Big Red on new years?" Missy teased as she laid on the bed, her hands on her torso as she looked over at the other girl.
"Mmm, maybe." Ashlyn blushed slightly as she chuckled quietly. "How about you? Who are you kissing?"
"Myself."
"I think you should kiss EJ-"
"Why would you say that? Why would I kiss EJ?"
"Because it's new years? And I figured you wouldn't want to kiss Ricky after your date the other night."
Missy rolled her eyes. "It's not like I have to kiss anyone, I could just go to the party for fun."
"But how much fun is that?" Ashlyn teased, laughing once more as she looked down at Missy.
"Maybe I'll go to a random party and kiss a random person and just have a random night?"
"I wouldn't, but you do what you want to do."
Missy chuckled quietly.
"Maybe I'll just stay home, my parents should be back by then. Honestly I did not expect for them to stay away for nearly a whole month."
Ashlyn shrugged. "I enjoyed having you here, it gets lonely sometimes. Not to mention I enjoy staying up until like three in the morning with someone aside from myself. I just wish things weren't awkward between you and EJ."
"Things aren't awkward."
"Missy, I know you two had some sort of fight, it's obvious."
"We didn't-"
"C'mon."
Missy sighed. Her and EJ hadn't technically fought though, but Ashlyn was convinced they had so she decided to nod in agreeance. "Fine, you caught us, we're fighting."
Ashlyn chuckled quietly.
"But it isn't awkward, on my side anyways."
"Okay, okay."
"Good."
"Just tell me one thing, do you like EJ?"
"Of course, he's one of my best friends-"
"No, no, do you like like EJ?"
"Why would you even ask that? He's just my best friend-"
"Missy-"
"Ashlyn-"
"Whatever." Ashlyn shook her head, smiling slightly as she got off her bed and walked towards the door, leaving Missy alone in the room.
She took a deep breath, looking at the ceiling. EJ wasn't a bad person, Missy knew this but she also knew the stakes would be raised if she were to date him, she wasn't sure if she could do that.
Maybe…
