"Who is this person and what does he want from me!?" Jieun demanded, her anguish showing through her red eyes.
"Eun-ah, my dear listen to me-"
"No! I want to know! I have to know!"
"Eun-ah I know you are upset right now. But please try to understand-"
"Appa, I don't care why you kept me away from the truth for all these years. I won't blame you nor question you... Today, you have to say it.... you have to tell me the truth. There are lives at stake because of me appa, and there is nothing that I'm able to-" Jieun held back her tears and walked towards her father. Clutching his arm, she buried her head into his shoulder.
Contrary to the bustling noise of the city outside, there was complete silence inside the headquarters of Neo City Police station. Every officer in the room watched the father-daughter with sad eyes. Doyoung and Jaehyun exchanged glances with another officer who was rather tall and well built. Winwin and another kind looking officer stood to one side, averting their gaze to their feet.
Taeyong's stern eyes softened a bit when they landed on Jieun and he felt the sudden urge to go and comfort her. He gulped and shook his head. To get rid of those emotions, he focused on his brother who stood watching Jieun. Haechan got him thinking of Jieun's brother, Jisung. Park Jisung. Park Jieun. Why do these names feel familiar? Park... Are they possibly.... No right? That doesn't make sense. It can never be them. From there Taeyong got lost in his own thoughts.
Meanwhile, unable to see his daughter like this, Jongin closed his eyes and clenched his fists. He moved to hug Jieun and pat her head gently. In his mind he kept apologizing. I wasn't able to protect them like I promised.... I couldn't hide them from him... Forgive me, Jimin-ah.
With heavy breaths and a shaky voice, Jieun pleaded. "Appa, do something... Please, bring them back..... I- I can't lose them.... Jisoo and Bomin mean a lot to me..."
-Flashback to earlier that day-
It had been a week since the letter incident. Jieun had not told about it to anybody except Renjun. Of course she had confronted her father but instead of explaining things, he only got alarmed and told her to leave the matter to him and the police and not investigate any further. She could still hear his words in her head, as if somebody had put a recording on loop...
"Jieun-ah, listen to me carefully. From here on, you are not ask any questions or search for answers or do anything. Whatever this is.... leave it to us, we'll take care of it."
"But appa-"
"All you have to do, is forget. Forget that any of this ever happened. Do you hear me? Do that and I promise, you and everyone else would be fine."
"How can I just-"
"Don't talk to anyone apart from your family and friends. Trust no one. Absolutely no one. And if you see any suspicious people or things, immediately report it to me or Taeyong or Doyoung or anyone from Neo Police. Do you understand?"
"Appa why are you-"
"Park Jieun. No matter the situation, don't think about anyone else.... just save yourself and protect your brother. Am I clear?"
"Appa-"
"No matter what happens, don't you dare do anything."
Jieun was sitting in a cafe, near her old school, with her brother and his friends. The boys had wanted to hang out with Jieun, Jisoo and Bomin and so despite Jieun's protests they had forced her to join them.
