"Choose."
"You are lying, my dad is with-"
Jieun's words were cut off as feeble shouts of "leave them alone Hwanhee!! Take it out on me if you want but let them go!!" and "don't even think of it JD!!" could be heard through the phone.
It was clearly Jongin's voice.
The man on the phone chuckled. "You were saying?"
Jieun clenched her teeth and then warily glanced at her captor and his two men. She had managed to free herself from the ropes, thanks to the tricks Jongin had taught her. She was now waiting for the right opportunity.
"None."
The man on the phone just sighed mockingly.
"Clearly you don't have that choice. It's either you choose whom to kill between your friends and your dad or all of them die. Simple as that."
"I'll never-"
"Oh and before you do, there is something you should see. Trust me, it will help you decide faster. Hwanhee?"
"I said I'm not going to choose-"
"Call me when she's made up her mind."
"Yes boss."
Jieun's captor, Hwanhee cut the call and put his phone back in his pocket. He then motioned to Shotaro, who was standing in the shadows. "Shotaro, the recording."
Shotaro silently placed a tablet on a big, broken piece of boulder for everyone to see. He played the video and retreated back into the shadows.
Jieun, Jisoo and Bomin were shocked to see a footage of Jungwoo talking to Irene.
-In the footage-
"If I tell you how to get her, will you leave us alone?"
Irene nodded. "I just want the Park siblings."
"Well, once you get hold of Jieun, taking Jisung will be easy."
"So will you help or not?"
Jungwoo paused for a minute but then nodded. "I'll cooperate but in return, me and my family are not to be harmed, ever."
"How can I be sure, you won't backtrack?"
"Please, the siblings are unwanted. Because of them my parents...." Jungwoo clenched his fists. "Anyways I have always wanted to get rid of them. You don't have to worry."
"And your dad?"
"He'll help."
"Great. We have a deal."
Hwanhee paused the footage. "You put your trust in them and look where that brought you. Do you still want to save him?"
"Dad will never do such a thing!! He's the most dedicated, honest and-"
"Your father is a fraud!! That man only knows how to break promises! Even I....my wife....he promised to protect...." Hwanhee closed his eyes in pain, recalling the sad memory.
Then reopening them, he furiously stared straight into Jieun's eyes. "That man only knows how to hurt people. And his son, he's always hated you and your brother. He's the reason you and your friends are here. Stop defending them!!"
Jieun eyed something behind Hwanhee. Jaehyun and the other two officers had regained consciousness but Sungchan who was supposed to be watching over them hadn't realized it yet. The tallest of the three secretly pointed to his hands and then towards their confiscated guns which were lying a few feet away from them.
