*** The family of four stepped through the brick wall to platform 9 3/4. Everyone is buzzing chatting to their friends about there summers. Aspen is excited and skipping about waiting for the Hogwarts express to arrive. Aspen Malfoy was a petite 12 year old girl with hazel eyes and prominent cheek bones, but one of her features that makes her stuck out the most is her hair. Malfoys are known for having pale blonde, almost white hair, but Aspens was a dark brown. This made her stick out more from her family and the reason, well astleast the reason she thought, her father preferred her brother draco over her. "Stop skipping, Aspen" luscius Malfoy said coldly. "Yes father" Aspen said , rolling her eyes when he wasn't looking. "Look at all the mud blood and muggle filth here, shouldn't be allowed" Lucius said with a hint of disgust in his voice "I know father, there's that mudblood granger over there , with her filthy muggle parents" Draco Malfoy, Aspens brother said. Aspen rolled her eyes again. She never cared much for blood pure ness , unlike her father and brother, who where disgusted by the sight of a mudblood, especially her father. *** Aspen was going into her 1st year at Hogwarts and Draco was going into his second. "There is the train, get on before it leaves" Narcissa Malfoy said before hugging them. Aspen always liked her mother more because she treated her and Draco the same. "Bye mum" Aspen said cheerfully "goodbye father" Aspen said. She always had address him so formally and she hated it. "Come on Aspen" Draco huffed. " Okay I'm coming I'm coming" Aspen said. One they boarded the train Draco said " You can't sit with me I have friends you should go make some" Draco said "didn't wanna sit with you anyway"'Aspen said with an eye roll "see you at school then"Draco muttered. Her and Draco always fought but they still loved eachother. " Hi is this seat free?" Aspen said to a girl with blonde hair, who she noticed was reading a magazine upside down "Yes it's free" the blonde girl said with a small smile "I'm Luna Lovegood" she said. Aspen heard her father talk about how the love goods where filthy blood traitors and to not talk to them, but Aspen didn't care about her fathers views so she talked to her anyway "Aspen Malfoy" She said, smiling back "Your a Malfoy? You don't seem like one, I thought they all had blonde hair" Luna said. "I know I guess I'm just the exception" Aspen said "I suppose so" Luna said with a smile, the she went back to reading her magazine. Oddaspen thought to herself about Luna, but thought she was nice either way. They mostly sat in silence on the train ride.

They arrived at Hogsmeade station and took the boats over to the castle. Hogwarts was amazing, just how her mother described it. When they got to the castle they went into the Great hall to be sorted into their houses. Aspen was nervous. Her whole family was Slytherin and she didn't want to disappoint them, but she didn't feel like she belonged in Slytherin. Somehow Luna could tell she was nervous " it will be alright" she said. Aspen gave her a small smile. A few people went before her, including Luna, who was sorted into ravenclaw. Her mother always said she could see her being in ravenclaw, but never said that in front of Aspens father, he would go mental if she was in any house except for Slytherin, "Malfoy, Aspen." A strict looking teacher said. People turned there heads to look at her, wondering why her hair was brown and not the signature Malfoy blonde, and thinking she probably held the same values as her pure blood supremisist brother. Her brother was eyeing her intently, waiting for her to be sorted into Slytherin. They Sorting hat was placed on her head, but didn't instantly say Slytherin, like when her brother was sorted "ahh another Malfoy, but you don't seem like the rest , you are brave yes, you are also ambitious, but not enough to put you in Slytherin. You have a brilliant mind I see... hmm I know where to put you... RAVENCLAW" the hat said.
Aspen froze on the spot. What would her father think. But then she remembered not to worry about him right now. When she got up to sit at the ravenclaw table. She felt eyes on her, wondering how on earth a MALFOY was put in ravenclaw. When she sat down, she looked over at her brother, who wasn't looking at her. She felt a pang of sadness, thinking she had lost her brother when a voice spoke " Hello again" Luna said " oh hi" Aspen said half heartedly "You seem confused , what's wrong" Luna questioned " oh nothing, it's just my father will be disappointed in me for being in Ravenclaw , and I doubt anyone will want to be my friend in Slytherin or in any other house" Aspen said sadly "I'll be your friend" Luna said with a smile "ok, that would be nice" Aspen said with a smile. After that day, the two became inseparable.
