Aspen, Luna and Ginny all sat in a carriage together on the way up to the castle. When they got to the Great Hall Ginny said "Well I have to sit at my table now but maybe I'll see you around" "Well I know its the first night and you can't sit with us but maybe tomorrow you can start sitting at our table, only if you want" said Aspen with a small smile "yes it would be lovely if you would" Luna said, "oh, well that would actually be really nice, I haven't made many friends since the incident last year" Ginny said with a tinge of sadness on her face at the thought of last year. "well, we'll be your friends, won't we Luna" Aspen said "Oh of course" Luna said with a smile. "Thanks, I'd like that" Ginny said, a smile now on her face, going over to sit with her brothers, Fred and George.
Luna and Aspen sat down just as the frog choir started to sing. When they finished, Luna said "the choir is really quite lovely, isn't it" "yeah I guess" Aspen said, truth was she wasn't really listening to it, too wrapped up in her own thought about her new friend, Ginny Weasley. She knew they would get along great. Just then Dumbledore started his speech " Welcome back to another year at Hogwarts, now I'd like to say a few words, before we all become too befuddled, by our excellent feast. First, I'm pleased to welcome professor R.J Lupin whose kindly consented to fill the post of defence against the dark arts teacher, good luck professor" Professor Lupin then stood up and got an applause, "Look, he's the person from the train" luna said, Aspen nodded her head and looked at him. When she got another look at him, he seemed slightly familiar to her, and he said something about someone dying years ago on the train when he looked at her. She found it weird but told herself it was nothing and started listening to Dumbledore again who had just announced Hagrid would be taking over the care of magical creators position. Aspen smiled at this, as she liked Hagrid, but she couldn't take his class until next year. "Now I would just like to take a moment to warn you about the dementors at Hogwarts" Dumbledore said "As you may or may not know Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban, and the dementors are here to guard Hogwarts. They do not take kindly to anyone who gets in their way and will not be too shy to attack if you do so, so if you do not wish to suffer a most terrible fate, I advise you to stay away from them. Now that we have the announcements out of the way, tuck in!" He finished "wow definitely not morbid at all" Aspen said with an eye roll. A few people around her laughed but Luna said "what do you mean, I thought it was very morbid" she said with a confused look on her face. A few people around us started making fun of her but with one glare from Aspen they were silenced. Aspen seemed to have an effect on people that way that came from not only being a Malfoy, but she also got in a few fights last year. she won all of them. After they ate the best meal Aspen had had since June, they went back to their dorms and Aspen fell asleep instantly, happy to be back at Hogwarts and away from her father.
