Madden's POV
15 years old

In most fairy tale love stories, the villain is revealed in the beginning of the story, and so is the hero. You never have to sit and wonder who the good guy and the bad guy are.

But my love story with Harry had never been that simple.

See, while he had always seemed like the villain to everyone around us, he had always been my hero. The one who would always show up and whisk me away whenever things were getting bad or scary.

Until now.

It had been a little over a year since that night we had our first real fight in my room, and things hadn't been the same between us since.

Harry wasn't lying when he said he'd leave and not come back, and I was too stubborn to admit that I was wrong and that I was sorry. I knew Harry still cared about me and loved me, the same way I did about him.

But those hateful words we had both spewed at each other had done a lot of damage to our hearts, damage neither one of us had made the first move to repair.

The guys all noticed things were different between us, of course they did. Harry and I used to be the closest out of the 5 of us, and now they were lucky if we said 5 words to each other the whole time we were together.

Harry did his thing and I did mine, and that was that. My mom wondered where he was, since he was always such a staple in our household, and I wondered if his parents ever questioned my absence as well.

I was lonely, for the first time in my life. So when a girl named Andy moved to town kicking and screaming like you wouldn't believe, I made a fast friend out of her.

She dressed in black clothes, had her nails painted black and her hair was dyed black. Everything about her just screamed stay away! But I had never been one to listen to the warning signs.

While Andy would usually be considered an outcast at most school for the way she looked, she was loved here. Boys couldn't get enough of her, and the preppy girls hated her because they chose Andy over their Pom poms and short skirts.

I was due to turn 16 very soon, and Andy had convinced me to come to a party with her to celebrate it early. My birthday took place over the summer when school was out, and Andy would be leaving for the summer to go spend some time with some cousins she had that lived somewhere else.

She said this was our only chance to celebrate together, and she wanted to be there for it.

"If you don't chug this beer right now, I'll shove it down your throat myself." Andy threatens, holding the same solo cup of beer I had been nursing for the last 15 minutes.

I was all for getting drunk, but not off foamy, warm beer that tasted like horse piss. "I hate beer! You know that." I looked around until I spotted Andrew, the owner of this house. "Drew! You got any liquor in this house? What's a girl gotta do to get a mixed drink around here?"

"Guys came in from their baseball game and stole every bottle I had off the mini bar! Take it up with them!" Andrew said, pointing to the couch where the baseball team had all the bottles and were proudly showing of their medals from the last game of the season they had won tonight.

A couple of the guys must have heard Andrew, because they looked up from the couch and into my direction. One boy in particular, Anthony, stood up from the couch and walked over to me.

Anthony was the hottest guy at our school, hands down is what the girls all said. And I had been crushing on him since the day I walked through the high school doors the first time. He had this swagger about him that you could see from a mile away, and the golden boy smile that I know he knew how to use to his advantage.
