Chapter 21: Greenhouse

Y/N's POV

Me, Clem, Ruby, and Mitch made it to the greenhouse.

Ruby: I didn't realize how long it's been. How much it's changed.

Ruby walked to the door and tried to open it, but no luck.

Mitch: This ain't budging.

Ruby: You gonna stand there sulking all day, or are you gonna do something useful?

Y/N: There must be another way in.

Clementine: We need the barbed wire. 

We start looking around, I tried looking through the window, but it was foggy.

Mitch: There's too much condensation inside.

Ruby: That's a big word for you.

Mitch: Shut up.

Clem spotted a broken window.

Clementine: We could use the window. It could get us inside.

Y/N: Nice thinking Clem.

Clementine smiles.

Ruby: Mitch, give me a boost.

Mitch: Wait, make those two go first. they are the ones we don't mind losing.

Ruby: That's an ugly thing to say.

Clementine: It's okay Ruby. Me and Y/N can go.

Y/N: I'll give you a boost Clem.

I help Clem up to the ladder and she climbs up. I jump up to the ladder and climb. Clem starts to chuckle. 

Clementine: Showoff.

I smile as we get in the greenhouse. We see a walker stand up and come at us.

Ruby: Clem? Y/N? You two okay?

I kicked the walker's knee and Clem stabbed it with her knife.

Ruby: Guys? Guys?!

Clementine: We're fine.

Ruby: Oh, thank god.

Two more walkers came at us. I kill the one walker while Clem killed the other one.

Ruby: Did you get them?

Mitch: Do you hear them? They got them, calm down.

Y/N: I'll get the door. 

I open the door. Ruby and Mitch comes in.

Mitch sees the dead walkers.

Mitch: Not bad.

Ruby: Let's find some barbed wire.

We all started to look around, I find a crowbar and take it. Clem sees me with the crowbar.

Clementine: Y/N, can you help get this cabinet open?

I walk over and force the cabinet open, barbed wire is inside.

Ruby: That should keep the raiders from climbing the walls.

Mitch looks at the bags inside the cabinet.

Mitch: We can make bombs out of these.

Y/N: Bombs?

Mitch: Yep. I used to make them.

Ruby: That's why he's a troubled youth.

Mitch: I just need propane and something to create a spark. There should be a science lab here, by that door.

He points at the door. Me and Mitch walk over and push away the shelf covering the door. As I head inside, a walker grabbed me by the wrist. I pulled my arm back, but the walkers hand came off of its body and stayed on my wrist.

Y/N: Fuck! Gross!

Clem ran in.

Clementine: You okay Y/N?

Y/N: I'm fine. It was just a scare. 

Ruby came in and gasped.

Y/N: What's wrong?

Ruby: Ms. Martin. Our nurse. At the school. She stayed when we all left. You can barely recognize her.

Y/N: I'm sorry to hear that.

Ruby: Would you? I'm sorry.

She walked away sobbing. Clem walked over with her as I took care of the walker.

Clementine: Are you okay?

Ruby: Yeah. I just need a minute.

Mitch: Help me find the propane so we can get out of here.

I see igniters and took them from the shelves.

Y/N: You need this?

Mitch: I was hoping there'd be one of those! Now we need to find propane.

I look around and saw the propane tank and got it out.

Mitch: Nice, we now have everything we need. Let's get out of here.

Ruby: We need to bury Ms. Martin first.

Mitch: Why? It's a walker. We can just burn it.

Ruby: No. She is the reason we are alive.

Mitch: And?

Ruby: She deserves a proper burial here.

Clementine: We'll help you bury her Ruby.

Y/N: Yeah.

Ruby: Thank you guys.

Mitch: It's just a walker!

I give Mitch a glare.

Mitch: Fine, whatever.

We finish up burying her outside.

Ruby: I'll put a stone at the graveyard, back at the school. I'll let the others know you two helped me. You two have a good heart, under all that muck.

Me, Clem, and Ruby laugh.

We walk out of the greenhouse and head back.

Clementine: I hope this can stop Lilly and the raiders.

Y/N: I hope so too.
