"What the hell were you thinking?" My brother Travis whisper yells at me.
"I was thinking the world ended and maybe we should start saving people before they all die," I growl back at him.
I turn around and see my friend Stephanie meeting everyone I just brought in. My thoughts are interrupted when Travis turns me back around to yell at me some more. " What do you even--" Travis is cut off by gun shots from outside.
I can tell he's pissed as he storms over to the new people. He grabs the Asian looking one by the shirt and gets in his face. "Is that one of your people?" He shouts. He looks nervous. "N..No," He managed to say.
"Travis...Travis let him go, he says it's not one of his guys," I pull him away.
Travis walks away and I stand in front of them. "Sorry about my brother, he's a little over protective," I apologized.
"Its fine. I'm Glenn," The Asian smiles. "I'm Jess," I answer. "This is the rest of my group: Andrea, T-dog--" Glenn was cut then off from more gunfire, coming from outside.
"Hey...hey I can see the guy whos firing," Glenn motions for me to come look.
I looked out the window and see some guy crawl under a tank. "Do you think he'll make it?" I question Glenn. "I don't know," he answers sadly.
I start to walk away when I hear Glenn. "Wait," I hear some hope in his voice. I go back over to the window but its now blocked with tons of walkers, making the streets no longer visible. I stand next to him, waiting for him to tell me his plan. "If that guy got in the tank form underneath..." he pauses. I stare at him, "Your point?"
"...my point is, if he got in there, there should be a radio we can talk to him through."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." I say quickly. I turn around and T-dog throws the walkie talkie at me, and I toss it to Glenn. "Hey...hey you in the tank.Yeah you, dumbass. You cozy in there?" Glenn said into the walkie talkie.
We sit there for a minute in silence, waiting for a response. "Maybe he didn't make it." I turn around to see Stephanie standing there looking at us. "Yeah, maybe he didn't," I shrug, excepting it as an option.
"Hello...hello?" We hear come through the walkie talkie. We all let out a breath when he answers unexpectedly.
Glenn starts talking to the man as he runs out into the alley, giving the unknown man orders.

Glenn runs back into the store with the man. He looks like he's in his mid-thirties and he was wearing a sheifs uniform.
Before I could say anything to the him Andrea pushes passed me and puts a gun in his face. I look at the gun and lightly chuckle, her safety is on and there isn't a round in the chameber.
I leave the current scene and stroll over to Travis who has been in the back of the store. He looks pist but I have to talk to him. "So what do you think of this group?" I ask him. "What I think is we should stay here and forget about them," He yells in a hushed tone.
"Why. Why don't you want to join a group?" I nearly shout at him. "Why do we need a group?" He questions. "We were doing just fine on our own. Me, you, and Stephanie."
"Travis we're stronger in groups, we have a better chance at surviving this thing, besides Stephanie likes the group. Travis please just give them a chance," I beg. "Fine," He rolls his eyes.
*Travis's POV*
I can't believe I let Jess talk me into going with this group. What if it isn't safe. I have to pretect her, shes my little sister. I know she's 26 but she's still my little sister. Gun fire brings me out of my thoughts.
"Is that Dixon?" I hear the blonde chick, Andrea, say from the front of the store. We all quickly run up the stairs, to the roof. "Are you crazy?" I yell at the him. "Hey calm down man, I'm just having some fun," The man known as Dixon says back as he jumps down from the ledge. "Come on man, your waisting amo we ain't even got," T-gog yells at him.
I back up, away from everyone and over to Jess. "Where's Stephanie?" I question her. She looks back at me with worried eyes, "I don't know." Without another word we both run down the stairs and back into the department store. We both look around the room frantically, until I spot her. "Jess," I nudge her shoulder. She turns to me and I point to where Stephanie is sitting on the floor, with her head in her knees.
"Stephanie?" Jess calls as we make our way toward her. "You okay?" She asks. Stephanie looks up and shakes her head. "What's wrong?" I ask. She glances at the window that the walkers were trying to bust through. "What...what if they get in here. What if we can't get out?"
Jess puts her hand on Stephanie's shoulder. "We will," she assures her. "We have a group now," I add. Jess looks at me with a little smile and I nod.

As we get back on the roof I see that Dixon has a gun to T-dog, and T-dog looked like he had been hit a few times. In instict, I put Jess and Stephanie behind me to protect them.
"Its time for democracy y'all," Dixon waves the gun around that he's holding.
The newest guy gets up, Rick. His face holds an angry expression, I watch as Rick walks up behind him. "Anyone else?" He asks the group. "Yeah," Rick says from behind him.
He turns around quickly but Rick was already prepared and punches him.
*Ricks POV*
After punching this Dixon guy I pull my cuffs out, I put one around his wrist and the other around a metal bar. "Who the hell are you?" He asks me, still a little out of it. "Officer friendly," I respond. "Now listen up," I continue. "There are no niggers any more," I sneered at him. "There's no dumb as white shit either. There's us and the dead, white meat and dark meat, we survive this by pulling together not apart," I state.
"Yeah, well screw you." He spat at me. "I see you have a habit of missing the point," I shake my head. "Yeah, well screw you twice," He responds.
I pull out my gun, putting it to his head. "You otta be more polite to a man with a gun, its only common sense," I quote from earlier. "You wouldn't. Your a cop," he looks me in the eyes, as if testing me. "All I am anymore is a guy looking for his wife and son, " I tell him before walking away and over to the ledge holding my wrist.
This guy named Morales walks up to me and notices I'm holding my wrist. "Your not from here..where you from?" he asks. "Up the road a ways," I answer.
"Well officer friendly... From up the road a ways. Welcome to the big city."
A crack a small smile at his use of my nickname.

*Jess's POV*
Me, Morales,Travis, and Andrea were holding a chain ready to pull it, to open up the door. Stephanie and Jackie were holding as many bags as they could pick up.
I hear muffled yelling from behind me, but I cant quite make out what is being said. Then I hear it again, but closer. "Hey wait for me guys, don't leave," T-dog shouts breathlessly.
Just then I hear a pound on the door. We all pull as quickly as possible, as soon as the door is open Stephanie and Jackie throw the bags in the back of the truck and everyone jumps in. Travis waits for me and Stephanie to get in before he does. Just as the walkers get to us, Morales slams the door down and ties it shut.
I looked around, Morales climbs into the passenger seat while Rick drives. Me, Stephanie and Travis are sitting on one side and T-dog, Andrea, and Jackie were on the other side. We all sit there in silence until T-dog brakes it. "I dropped the damn key," Guilt heavy in his voice. "You know, no one will be sad Merle didn't come back," Morale's try's to make Rick and T-Dog feel a little better, considering they just left a man on the roof to be eaten alive.
So his name is Merle I think to my self, Dixon must be his last name . "Well everyone except maybe Daryl," Morales adds.
