I know I haven't updated in over a month and I'm sorry. I don't have an excuse I just wasn't motivated to write this story.

----------------------------------------

*Jess's POV*

"And she told me ya were dead..she wouldn't let me see your dead body. We got over run so she dragged me outta the buildin'," he finishes explaining.

Now, after spending the last twenty minutes hearing Daryl's side..I feel like a bitch for ignoring him. After all it wasn't him who left me, it was Stephanie. "I'm sorry," I whisper. "Fer what?"

"..Blaming it all on you."

He shrugs. His eyes seemed to change from earlier, there not as dark as they were. This is what I wanted back at the school..Daryl. But now that I have him back, I forgot how hard it is to hold back my feelings. He's more of the keep to himself, so he's not much for showing affection. But hearing what he told me, I just wanna kiss him again, feel his lips on mine.

I slide the roofs gravle under my boot back and forth, creating background noise. "Ca-," I shake my head. Sometimes I just over think things. But unfortunately Daryl noticed I was gonna ask him something. "What?"

"Its nothing.."

"Do ya wanna go back down stairs an' get some sleep? I got watch," he walks over to the edge and looks down. "I can take watch, its my turn anyway."

"Ya sure?"

"Mhm," I pull out my gun. Noticing that it would be loud, I remember Glenn had given me a silencer for it. Daryl sits back where we were previously. "Aren't you gonna go get some rest?"

"I'm not sleepin' down there.."

"This roof is made out of gravle," I chuckle. He shrugs and lays down. I shake my head at him. Turning back to the streets, there is nothing. Not a walker in site. Its kind of relaxing, not being able to hear walkers groaning and knowing people are here for me.

-------------------------------------------

I squint my eyes open just enough to see Daryl slowly pacing pack and forth in front of me. I watch him for a moment before he sits on the ledge, dangling his feet off the building. Obviously he didn't notice I was awake so I sit up, being as quiet as possible. He hasn't moved since he sat down so I still don't think he knows that I'm awake. I carefully go to place my hand on his shoulder, but before I do so, his hand catches my wrist; startling me. "Tryin' to sneak up on me?"

"No," I say innocently. I plant myself next to him, with my feet also over the edge. I'm still tired but sitting up here with him seems like a better idea. But involuntary, my head starts to slowly bob to the side. I find my head on Daryl's shoulder, and I'm surprised he doesn't mind. I begin to shiver with the chilly wind nipping at my bare arms. "I have a blanket if your cold." I nod, so we both get back over the ledge. He slips his crossbow off, his shirt barley coming up with it..but enough. I had forgotten about the scars on his back. But I know it has to do with his past, which is a touchy subject.

"Here," he turns around handing me the blanket. I smile and take it from him, but I can't shake the thought of his scars. I don't let my curiosity get the best of me for Daryl's sake.

------------------------------------------

An arm is lazily thrown over my torso and a chest was warmly heating my back. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make me feel safe agin. To make me crave the touch of Daryl's. His steady breath was heating the back of my neck.

I could feel little pebbles fom the roof pressing into my sides, even through the blanket we were laying on.

Daryl starts to stir from behind me. Knowing he's now probably awake, I shut my eyes to fake sleep. He runs his finger from my hip down to my thigh. I squirm under the feeling I got from it, making me turn his way. Thankfully, he thinks I'm still asleep. But unexpectedly, Daryl plants a soft kiss to my forehead.

After I hear him get up and take watch again, I let my lips form into the smile they were aching to.

I know he can hear me when I finally get up, he doesn't turn around. I'm not dumb enough to try and sneak up on him again, cause we all know how that'll turn out.

He stays put, as do I. When he lifts up his crossbow and aims at what I'm assuming is a walker, I take steps toward him. He releases the bolt, it landing in the walkers skull, followed by the bodied thud. "Nice shot."

He smirks at the fact I complimented him and he knew he was already good. I role my eyes at him playfully, "I'll go get it."

I retrieve the bolt for him and head back up to the roof. When I'm only a few steps away I hold it out to him. As he goes to take it I pull it pack. We make eye contact and hold it. I step closer so he can grab it, never dropping eye contact. He studies my face like he's trying to see what I'm doing.

He places his hand over mine so we both have the arrow in our hand. The other hand he slowly brings to my cheek. He narrows his eyes and tilts his head like he's questioning himself. Finally, he pulls me into a short but sweet kiss. That kiss I've been craving sinse last night.

But he's still right here, in front of me. I stand on my toes to reach his lips, he meets me half way. He throws the arrow a side that we had been holding. I chuckle into the kiss and use my free hand to wrap around his neck, Daryl on the other hand places his hand on my hip; pulling me closer to him.

Ruining this perfect kiss is someone jogging up the metal stair case. Daryl grins before turning around like nothing happened. But I want to make him feel uncomfortable when someone from the group gets up here. I quickly lean forward so I'm right next to Daryl's ear. "I didn't know Dixon's kissed like that," I whisper. Just when he turns around and looks at me with a slightly red face, someone bursts through the door. He snaps his head away from us as fast as possible.

"Were packing up," Glenn informs us. I nod and say an 'okay'. After Glenn leaves Daryl faces me once again. I do a cheeky smile before heading to my weapons. I collect all of them then head for the door, Daryl catches up with me. "But now you know," he whispers back. My face then turns a light shade of pink like his had moments ago.

He smirks his Dixon smirk and walks around me. I shake my head in disbelief, my plan just back fired in my face.

-----------------------------------------

With winter right around the corner, we had to find a place to stay. We all set off looking for anything that could hold up for the winter months, but instead we start out the winter jumping house to house. Hopefully we find a place soon.

------------------------------------------

So this is a short chapter but its sort of just a filler in for Jess and Daryl before they find the prison. Which is where I'm starting the next chapter off.

I will try and update more often!

Hope you liked the chapter, don't forget to comment and vote!
