You waved goodbye to Avani and climbed in. You couldn't help but see how hurt Kio looked and you knew it was more what you'd said than the fact that you were leaving with Bryce. On the drive home he started to apologize for how he acted: "It's nothing you did, I was just being dumb."
You were shocked as you climbed out of the car in your driveway: "I just figured you'd seen Ry's snapchat and it made you mad."
Bryce: "I mean, yeah that wasn't fun to see. But it was just a kiss. We aren't even dating. The reason I didn't talk to you today is because Noah told me to stay away from you."
You: "Do you always do what Noah tells you too?"
What happened next, not even you saw coming. You really had thought this was the beginning of him friendzoning you in the name of bro code but instead he pushed you back against the door of his car and leaned in. He whispered against your lips: "Nope."
You even surprised yourself with how quickly you melted into his kiss. You know you should have felt guilty for leading him on or leading Vinnie on. At this point even you didn't know who you wanted. Hell, a part of you was imagining what it'd be like to kiss Kio in that moment. You know that was messed up, but you'd been messed up for a really long time. Something about childhood trauma, abuse, and abandonment has a way of making you blur the lines of what's right and to just live in the moment of whatever makes you forget the pain.
Your lips were so fused to his that you didn't see another car pull up. Next thing you knew, you felt Bryce being pulled away from you with such force it knocked you to the ground. You shook your shock off and saw Vinnie on top of Bryce throwing a second punch. Bryce was a lot more built than Vinnie and he easily was able to flip him into a choke hold.
You were scared to scream for help because your dad was home and you knew if he came out and saw either boy, he would never let you date either of them. You weren't even sure that would be an option after this fight. If you were being honest, the real reason was because you knew he would break it up and help you inside and then unleash fury on you, blaming you for everything. You didn't know how that fight would end up.
A neighbor came outside and threatened to call the cops and you started to cry and beg them not to. Vinnie was able to pull away and shake it off and stormed back to his car. He took off down the street leaving tire marks on the pavement. Bryce wiped his lip and you tried to grab his arm to stop him from leaving too.
Bryce: "WTF!? What the hell was that about? Was that the kid from the party?"

You: "Yes, I don't know what he was doing here."
Bryce: "He wasn't that worked up over a kiss. So why don't you try again and tell me what really happened at that party?"
You can't bring yourself to say the words so you just contend: "I didn't think we would ever date. You seemed so worried about what Noah would think-"
Bryce: "BS! You knew I wanted to be with you!"
You started to stutter and told him how screwed up you were and all the emotions pouring out of you were so sincere that he stopped and asked: "Then tell me something real. Tell me what's going on with you?"
You froze up and told him to just drop it and he pulled away. He got into his car and left without another word.
