Welcome back to the second day of Christmas!
Percabeth Fluff!
"Percy! Do you have to go on the quest?!" Annabeth complained, "it's almost Christmas!"
"Chiron really needs me too, Wise Girl. I wish I could stay, but I don't think I have much of a choice," Percy told her. He grabbed a strand of hair and placed it behind her ear. She looked at him and tears filled her eyes.
"Oh, alright. Just be home for Christmas!"
"You can plan on me. But I expect some presents."
She laughed and kissed his cheek. "And mistletoe?"
"Obviously! Is that even a question?"
They both laughed a bit, and the whole situation seemed to disappear, but slowly they started to remember.
"I'll miss you Seaweed Brain," Annabeth whispered. He leaned in and gave her a kiss on the lips.
"I'll miss you too, Wise Girl." He stood up and started heading to the door.
"Stay safe."
"I'll try not to get killed. It's not the monsters I'm worried about, it's Jason and Piper. I'll probably find a way to annoy them." She chuckled at Percy.
"I have no doubt. Good luck third-wheeling by the way!"
"Gee! I can't wait to feel like Grover!" With that he waved and closed the door. She stayed home and cried for the rest of the afternoon.
Christmas Day!
Percy was yet to return. Neither had Jason and Piper though. That didn't bring Annabeth's stress levels down at all though. Two weeks. Two weeks since he had gone on that stupid quest. For what? For Aphrodite's prized hairbrush! It couldn't be any better than Rachel's!
"Merry Christmas Annie!" Thalia called as she entered the lonely apartment. Annabeth was still home, but it didn't feel like it, not without Percy.
"Hi Thals." Annabeth was too upset to correct the name.
"Oh! Annabeth! What's wrong?"
"Percy hasn't returned from his quest yet. I'm beginning to worry, Thalia. He Iris messaged me last week, but he hasn't since. He said he's be back soon."
"Knowing Percy, he's fine. He's probably just annoying someone, like a god, right now and will come by later," Thalia reassured, hoping that she didn't make things worse.
"You- you think so?" Annabeth lightened up a bit, Thalia took note of that and replied.
"Yes! I'm positive!" Thalia cheered. Truthfully, she wasn't sure, but anything to lift Annabeth's spirits. Besides, Annabeth believed her.
"Alright! I'm gonna put all of his presents under the tree like he asked! And hang the mistletoe!"
"Yuck! Remind me to leave when he shows up!"
"And I'll play the Christmas music! And decorate the gingerbread house! Thalia can you help me with the tree? That is kinda your specialty, right?"
"Hey!"
The girls got to work. Thalia was happy as she watched Annabeth get into spirit. By the time they were done, it was eight o'clock at night. Thalia claimed she had to go back to her huntress, truthfully, she didn't want to face Annabeth's wrath at midnight, when Percy didn't show up.
It was eleven o'clock at night, when Annabeth heard the door to the apartment creak open. She'd given up at ten with the idea of Percy coming back, so of course she pulled out her dagger. She was worried about a monster ruining her Christmas even more. She rounded the corner to her doorway, and what she saw made her cry.
"Seaweed Brain," she whispered. He smiled at her with his lopsided grin and she burst forward. She tackled him to the ground.
"Hey, Wise Girl," he said nonchalantly. He stared into her eyes as she lay on top of him on the floor.
"'Hey!' That's all you have to say? Percy! You were gone for two weeks, no IMs but one! I was worried!"
"Sorry Annabeth. We got really busy with the quest, and I wanted to IM you, but we didn't have anymore drachmas because we had to spend them all on a bunch of different stuff and-"
She cut him off with a kiss on the lips, which made him happily shut up. She pulled away slowly.
"Did you get me presents?!" He asked excitedly. She rolled her eyes at his behavior.
"Only if you have some for me," she joked. He smiled at her.
"You know I do!" She slowly climbed off of him and stood up off the ground. She offered him a hand which he took and hoisted himself up.
"Let me go grab them," he whispered and kissed her cheek. Then he ran off to their bedroom to grab whatever he got for her.
When he returned, she was sitting by the tree. He sat down softly next to her and place the wrapped gifts underneath the tree. They took turns unwrapping gifts. Percy rolled his wrapping paper into a ball and threw it at her as a joke. She returned the gesture. They kept throwing paper and bows until it became a full out war.
Percy got up and ran for cover while Annabeth chased after him. (I love puns❤️) Percy ran to an opening in the doorway, where the mistletoe was hung proudly. He waited for Annabeth to come storming through. As she lunged at him he caught her and wrapped her in a hug.
"What are you doing Seaweed Brain?" She asked curiously.
He pointed above-head. "Mistletoe." She looked up and sure enough it was there. She rolled her eyes and smirked.
"If you wanted a kiss, you could've just asked," she stated.
"Can I have a kiss?" He teased. She playfully shoved his shoulder, but his arms didn't move from her waist. After he regained the bit of balance lost, she tilted her head up, so she could gaze into his eyes. Slowly, their lips met. They kissed for a minute and nothing else mattered. Leo could come in, burn down their tree, and they wouldn't have cared. The kiss was soft and gentle, yet desperate and wanting. Not just wanting, needing. They needed each other.
As they pulled away, Percy mumbled something.
"What?" She asked, unable to hear him.
"Told you that you could count on me."
With that, there lips met again, for one final Christmas kiss.
Hope you enjoyed!
Merry early Christmas!
