Chapter 9 - The End

Some major trigger warnings for this chapter. It's also really long.

"Well shit"

"Yep, you gonna die." Gin replies, shaking her head.

"Right, well I'm just going to take my leave. I can't have Chuuya going after you two. That would be devastating. Bye!"

Akutagawa tried reaching for him, but by the time he moved, Atsushi was gone.

"Dammit!" He hit the wall, causing it to crack.

Gin looked over at him, understanding dawning in her eyes.

"You like him don't you?"

Akutagawa startled, "N-no. I-i don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't bother lying to me, I can see it in your eyes. You more than just like him, you love him. And, he loves you to. It's clear in the way he forgave you, the way he went to go beat up Dazai for hurting you without giving a thought to the consequences. And the way he left just now, it hurt him, a lot, but he did it to protect you. You need to find him and tell him how you feel. Before he does something stupid, like trying to confront Chuuya."

Akutagawa nodded, running out the door. "Thanks! I should be home in time for dinner!"

"You better be!" Came the reply.

Atsushi jumped to the next rooftop, thinking.

Why had he forgiven Akutagawa so easily? Why did he do all that for him?

His foot slipped and he fell onto the roof.

He liked Akutagawa.

Looking back, he always had. All the little details made sense now.

Huh.

He was so obvious that he liked him, Chuuya will most defiantly go after him to get Atsushi to come out of hiding.

How could he have been so stupid?

He turned around and ran, all the way back to the house.

He burst in the door, looking around frantically.

Gin looked up from her book, saw him and said.

"He went to go look for you. He left his phone at home. That's all the information I know."

Atsushi nodded his thanks, and left.

After half an hour of looking for Akutagawa, his phone rang.

Chuuya.

He hesitantly picked up, knowing what was about to happen.

Chuuya's voice came through the speaker.

"Hi Atsushi. You know how you beat up my husband? I have Akutagawa here, and I think I'll return the favour. Come and get him at the old warehouse on the docks. Before it's too late."

Atsushi was running before Chuuya hung up. He knew that Chuuya would not hesitate to kill Akutagawa, he never liked him, it would be a great excuse. He just hopes he'll get there in time.

The warehouse was quite, the scent of the sea in the air. Atsushi walked slowly through it, looking for Akutagawa.

"You're too late. He didn't survive for long, it only took three hits before he was out. Then three more till his skull was smashed in. He was weak, like you are. I will hurt you more then you hurt my husband. It's only fair."

The voice came from above him, he looked up to find Chuuya standing on the roof.

"Really? You have to stand on the roof? Wow, how predictable."

Chuuya jumped, landing on the floor next to him.

"You can't talk. You came running along, just like a good little dog. It's a shame I have to kill you though, I rather liked you."

Atsushi shook his head, "I'm going to sound like a desperate hero here, but where is Akutagawa? I need to see him to know if he's really dead."

Chuuya laughed, "Come along, I'll show you his body."

He led Atsushi to a mess of a body, but the clothing and the hair clearly showed that it was Akutagawa. Atsushi looked to Chuuya.

"You're really going to pay for this. I loved him. So you will die."

(Insert fight scene. I would write it, but I can't write fight scenes.)

Atsushi looked over Chuuya's dead body.

"It's a shame, I rather liked you too. But you killed Akutagawa. So I killed you. It's only fair."

He walked over to Akutagawa's body. Kneeling next to it, he said,

"I'm sorry I didn't get here in time. But, I shall hopefully see you soon. I love you."

He kissed his forehead, tears now streaming down his cheeks. He picked up the knife, fingering it in his hands. He jabbed it into his heart. As he lay bleeding out, he knew one thing.

He would never see Akutagawa again.
