P12 Flashback-
The Castiel Diaries:

"I am Castiel, angel of The Lord, and I will save you." I said picking up a small, new born, human soul. "You have fire in you, it matches your hair. I can tell you are special, like every human, so ordinarily special." I held the small soul in my arm, admiring the innocents. "I often watch your kind, father told me to love them, you human are flawed, and it is beautiful to see. But the pain your world carries is almost impossible to bare, the only reason I am able to watch is the love. It shines brighter than anything, even angels." I held the baby closer to myself, wrapping my wings around us, "that is why I will break the rules for you. You will be a mistake, but such a wonderful mistake. No one can know, or we will both be in trouble."
I flew down to Earth, the soul in my hold, and as a ghost, I gave the baby back to her mother. "You will be safe with them, your parents, and I will watch over you, no angel will find out about us. I'll keep you safe, I promise." I placed my finger slightly over the top of her lip and flew away. I am glad I broke the rules, I was able to let a life carry out a happy ending. She is my responsibly now, I will watch the human child grow and I will be there for her every step of the way.
----- several years later-----
"Dean." I said rolling over in bed, green eyes gazing into mine. "Today is very important. I cannot fool around with you," I sat up in bed.
"Oh, common Cas, Sam is out, demons are gone, temporarily, we never get a chance to just mess around in bed all day." Dean grabbed my shoulder and pulled my back down on top of his chest. "Just a little longer?"
"No, Dean I have someone to see." I pulled myself up and got dressed.
"Who?"
"A girl I promised to protect. It's her birthday. I haven't missed one yet."
"I've never met her?"
"We've never shared this kind of bond before." Dean got up and began to dress himself as I made my way to the door, " you can meet her, if you'd like. But she might be jealous of you."
"And why is that?" He grabbed the impala keys and followed me to the car.
"She loved me, what can I say." I smiled at the idea of having two humans love me, almost a family. Such human feelings. Love and deviation, they felt right, I'm happy I made Tara a mistake, I'm happy Dean is right next to me.

"Cas!" The little ginger child yelled, dropping all she was doing and running over to give me a hug. I swept her up and around like a roller coaster, her laugh filling the sky.
"Happy birthday Tara, wow six years old! You are so grown up!" I put we down and waves to Linda and Peter, I had been their baby sitter since she was born, "I am going to take her out for ice cream, we will be back for diner." I told them as she held my hand and led me out the door to the impala where Dean sat, eager to meet the little girl.
"Who's he, Cas?" She pointed into the window of the car.
"My boyfriend I guess." Dean and I weren't big on titles, it was more of a don't ask don't tell sort of relationship, we kept PDA to a minimum because not all human can except every for of love. "This is Dean. Dean, this is Tara." Dean got out of the car and leaned against it trying to be cool, he looked so hot when he tried to be cool.
"Hello, Dean." She said with a smile giving him a hug, but she only managed to grab one leg because she was so small.
"Hey, happy birthday kido." He said awkwardly adoring her.
"Your lucky you know that," she said looking up at him.
"Why?" Dean asked very interested in what she had to say.
"You get to be with Castiel everyday, I wish I could see him that much."
Dean gave me the heart melt look he usually only gives pies, "Remember, Tara-"
"Just cuz your not there doesn't mean you not watching over me." She finished the sentence.
"Let's go get some ice cream birthday girl!" I said with pride. I love her so much, I am so glad she likes Dean, now to get Sam involved in this party.

We drove to get Sam, he was doing something stupid I don't really care too much about. Tara doesn't know what a moose is so she called him a pony instead. "My big pony," she called him riding on his shoulders at the ice cream parlor.
"Were to now?" Sam asked looking us at her, she smiled back, wrapping her arms around his head.
"Home?"
"But we haven't spent the entire day together?" I asked, hurt she wanted to go back so soon.
"No silly, not my home, your home, Deans and Sams home." Relieved to hear that we piled back into the car and drive back to the motel. Sam had to go back to what ever he does, so we dropped him off on the way, Tara was sad to see her pony leave, but she was over it when she saw Dean and I holding hands.

We made it back to the motel, thank my father it had been cleaned. Dean and I sat on the bed and Tara hopped into my lap, I held her close and rested my face on her back. "Did you have fun today with Sam and Dean and I? The carnival and zoo were cool, and you liked the ice cream."
"Yeah, it was great, but now I'm tierd." She yawned, "but I don't want to go home yet."
"That's ok, I'll call your parents and tell them your staying the night." I passed Tara to Dean who seemed a bit confused about the child falling asleep against him, head on his shoulder. "You'd me a great dad." I said leaving the room to make a call.
I heard Tara say a slight prayer to me when I was out,
"Dear Castiel, my guardian angel, thank you for always watching over for me, and thank you for the best birthday a mistake could ever have. I love you."
When I came back in, Dean was laying on the bed, Tara wrapped in his arms, asleep. He gave me the quote look as he put his finger to his lips. I smiled at the site, they were so great together. I took off my coast and shoes and climbed to the other side, I pulled myself in close to them and wrapped my arms around Tara, bring able to hold Dean as well. We all fell asleep like that, a little mix matched family.

Over the next couple of months, Dean, Sam, and I hung out with Tara more and more. It was nice because a lot of cases were taking place in New York, but the fun couldn't last for forever.
The day it all ended was hard on all of us. Tara was left with nothing. Not a single memory. But that's another story. . . .
