There's an orangutan in my garden

This is a poem about palm oil. It's not very good, but the message is clear.

There's an orangutan in my garden, howling at my soap,

For not only has he lost his home, but also his last hope

"Home was ground down by evil, roaring machines,

They stole poor mummy's life, and my friends and families,"

He whimpers as I turn to go and play,

With Alice, my friend, who came over here today

"My mum was one of 25 orangutans to lose their life

They tried to run away but ended up with the knife

Some companies who participated in this were Nestle and Coles

Their vile contraptions left gaping, smoking holes

Hundreds of orangutans were sadly left within

Like the stinking, dirty, rubbish that you put inside your bin,"

I thought that this was the last of his raucous rant and rave

But this was hardly the start and more information did I crave

"With 300 football fields being cleared every hour,

It leaves me in a devastated mood that is ever so dour"

As I listen to this little buddy

With ruddy orange fur, so matted and so muddy

I think of all the things that I've done to contribute to this horror

And how much things I've put him through, especially the terror

"We aren't safe in our own home, no, no more

And in the form that you humans are doing this is very, very poor"

With that he turned to leave his imaginary life

Up on his journey of upheaval and ongoing strife

To make orangutans life in general a little easier

Instead of making life ever so sleazier

I have to share his story far and wide, starting with you

And I have things that you desperately need to do

Firstly, cut all palm oil products from your huge, crowded shop

Ignore all complaints until they finally stop!

Secondly, spread their story far and wide so others can fight too

Make all these orangutans feel less blue

Lastly, boycott all palm oil plantations that you are buying from

They are all so stupid and unquestionably dumb

Humans are an evil race

Mankind is an absolute disgrace

So.... something to think about before you go

Are you truly helping the earth? I really want to know......
