FOUR POV
This is my one shot to make it real. To make Tris see what I see in her. To make her see what I feel for her. It's one night. That's all I have to make her believe that I'm worth trying for. To make her believe I'm not a creep, it's just that everytime I see her my tongue goes numb and I say the wrong words. Maybe now that we would be alone without Zeke breathing down my neck.
Driving to the principal of my school's house was weird. What if her aunt answers the door and invites me in? What if her uncle did? The senator of Michigan? That would be something. Thankfully when I open the door, and look down slightly, I see shining blonde hair, piercing grey-blue eyes, and a small body in a black dress.
"Hey, beautiful." I say.
"Watch out. I bite." She says and I chuckle. I wouldn't be surprised if she did end up biting me.
"Ready to go?"
"Sure...as long as you're not taking me to an abandoned shack out in the woods."
"I told you I was taking you to Buccini's." I said as I lead her to my car.
"That had better not be a road-kill restaurant. I've heard all bad things about those." I laugh as she gets in the car and so do I.
"No. It's a really good Italian restaurant in the city." I start the engine and drive off towards downtown Chicago. It was a silent ride until Tris got board and said "Lets see what the radio here has." She turned on the stereo and Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars came on. She started singing to it and turning the stereo on high. She looked so cute when she sings. As the song ended, Say Something came on.
"Oh my gosh. This song almost makes me cry."
"Why?"
"Because it's in a really sad movie that was based off of a really sad book." Girls are so emotional. I honestly don't know how to keep up with them.
"Anyway... We're here." I get out and run around the front of the car to open the car for Tris. We walk in and there are twinkle lights all over the ceiling of the Italian restaurant.
"Reservation. Four?" I say to hostess once I get her attention. I realize that sometimes that could get confusing. Am I asking for a table of four? I dunno.
"Just one moment please." She walks away only to return with two menus. "Right this way." She leads us down the restaurant until we get to a small table with two chairs by it.
"Someone will be right by to get your orders." The hostess walks away again. We sit at the table.
"So..." She starts.
"Tell me about yourself." She thinks for a second. I think I see a flash of pain on her face, but she covers it well.
"Um, well, I grew up in Portland, Oregon. It was just me, my brother, and my parents. My best friend was a girl names Christina and her boyfriend, Will."
"When did you move to Chicago?" Again with the pained look.
"Well I didn't have any other family to move in with when... when... When my parents died... About a month ago."
"Oh, God! I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" She plants a fake smile on her small face.
"Yeah. It was hard at first, still is, but I know they're in a better place now. I'm over all the anger and stuff. Anyway, my aunt is really nice and so is her husband. My brother is really distant, though. Smart, but distant." That's a lot to take in. "What about you? What's your story?" Dang. I was hoping she wasn't going to ask that.
"Well... I used to live with my mom and my stepdad, Marcus, but he was abusive. My mom didn't suspect a thing, but it happened daily. Eventually, the authorities were called upon and now I live with my dad." She gasps a little after I finish.
"That's awful." She says. Then she whispers "I'm sorry you had to go through that."
"It's alright."
"No it's not." She may have had something else to say, but it was cut short by the waiter. The night went on like that. I found out that Tris liked plain colors, she enjoyed the beach, she likes talking to homeless people (she says they're funnier than normal people), and she really misses her friends from Portland. She keeps talking about all her favorite autistic kids that she tutored and how they used to get bullied before she started tutoring them. She was brave, and selfless, and really smart even if she denied. I think I'm falling in love with Tris Prior.
TRIS POV
After a night with Four, that went WAY better than expected, he drove me back to my aunt's house. When the car stopped, I was disappointed. Now that I was here, on a date with Four, I didn't want to leave.
"Thanks for a great date, Four. G'night." I got out of the car and walked up the driveway. I was just at the door when Four's hand grabbed my hand, pulling me to him. All at once I felt his lips on mine. One thought hit me as he parted, and ran to his car and drove off: I think I'm falling in love with Four.
