Slade pulled Max into the hotel room and closed the door. No noise. It was silent. Slade sighed. "Ahh." He walked to the bed and laid on it.

Max laid beside him and sighed.

"Are you okay?" Slade was worried.

Max laughed. "I'm great." He rolled onto Slade and stared into his green eyes. "When you decide to propose properly, I was thinking I would say yes. When the time was right. It's too soon but a couple more months maybe?"

Slade smiled. "Okay. I found rings that I love but I wanted to ask for your opinion."

"Okay?" Max watched Slade. He found rings?

He gently pushed Max off. "I'm coming back." He walked to his bag and pulled out two small boxes and slid back into bed. "What do you think?" He opened the box.

Max stared as he sat up. It was a gorgeous silver band. There was nothing on it. Just plain and perfect. "Slade! This is gorgeous!" He was holding the box.

Slade smiled. He pulled it out of the box and took Max's hand. "Let's make sure it fits." He slid it on. "Perfect."

Max stared at it. He wasn't sure he was comprehending what was happening. Was he in shock?

Slade smiled. "Max, would you marry me? I mean we can have a long engagement. Get things figured out and choose a date two years from now. I just..."

"Slade! I... Is that one for you?" Max looked at the other box.

"It is."

Max picked it up and opened the box. It matched. He took Slade's hand and he removed the ring that was on his ring finger. Max smiled and slid the silver ring on. "Marry me. If I have to say yes and marry you, you have to say yes and marry me." He handed the extra ring to Slade.

Slade glared. "You never said yes!"

Max laughed. "Yes. I would love to marry you!" He dove on Slade and kissed him.

Slade wrapped around Max and kissed him.

"So, is that a yes?" Max smiled.

"Fuck yes!" Slade smiled. "Max, I would have married you in Bill's kitchen!" He placed the extra ring on the side table.

Max smiled. "Me too!" They just kissed for a while, in bed, in their tuxedos.

Slade changed his jewelry. He only wore his engagement ring on his left hand until Max pointed it out. He liked all of the jewelry so Slade wore all of his rings, including his engagement ring.

They went home to Max's like nothing happened over the weekend. No one knew. Max went to work and Slade met him for lunch on most days. He became a regular. Slade walked in Friday and there were new magazines on the table. His band was on the cover. Alyssa noticed.

Alyssa gasped when he walked in. She stood up. "I didn't realize that was you!" She was nervous and holding a magazine.

Slade smiled. "Oh, new magazines! Yes, that's me."

"You're a rock star! How did you meet Max!" Alyssa stared. "Sorry, I have known Max a long time and he's not...!"

Slade smiled. "I understand. I got lucky, Alyssa. Hey, come to dinner tonight, our place."

Alyssa watched Slade. "Your place?"

"Uh, Max's house. We're living together." Slade sighed. "Uh, he's secretive."

"So is Bill." Alyssa smiled.

Slade gasped. "Are you sleeping with Bill?"

Alyssa blushed and nodded. "We're dating. That man's amazing in bed!"

"I know!" Slade paused. "Uh, it's hereditary! Max is amazing. I can't get enough. He's like crack for me!"

Alyssa smiled. "I understand. Maybe their penises are laced with it!"

Slade just laughed.

Max walked out. "Oh, I didn't know you were here!" He rushed to Slade and hugged him.

Alyssa saw the matching bands that she hadn't noticed all week. She gasped. "Are you...does that mean that same thing?" Her eyes were on Max's ring. He didn't wear jewelry.

Max turned red and looked at the floor. Slade bit his ear and then smiled at Alyssa. "It does. Come to dinner."

Alyssa nodded.

Max smiled. "Lunch?" He pulled Slade to his office. "I'm busy for an hour, Alyssa!"

Alyssa laughed and nodded. She sat with her crossword. Max was engaged? To a rock star? She was coming to dinner.

Slade enjoyed Max over the desk. They were on the floor recovering. "Did you order new magazines?"

Max nodded. "I did. We didn't have that one! I was shocked to see those pictures of us."

Slade smiled. "I always am. My mom has a stack of them. She mailed one to us. Uh, it came today and I looked through it."

Max smiled. "Oh! It's weird."

Slade paused. He was almost afraid to say anything. He wondered briefly if this would start a fight. "Max, I invited a few people for dinner."

Max nodded. "I know. Your mom called me." He chuckled because Slade sounded worried. "She said their plane was on schedule. I figured you wanted them here too. I'm fine, Slade."

"Really?" Slade kissed Max's chest.

"Really. I can't wait to tell everyone. I'm going to marry you!" Max smiled. "I'm sorry if you don't think I'm happy?"

Slade laughed. "I can see that you're happy, Max. It's visible. I know you don't like to share things with others."

"I don't but I can accept that you do. I'm growing." Max smiled. "So, are you cooking?"

Slade shook his head. "It's being catered."

Max laughed. "I love it. You planned this, huh?"

Slade nodded. "I did. I can't keep this a secret any longer!"

"It's been a week." Max glared for fun.

"I know and I am bursting!" Slade smiled. "I get to marry my sexy doctor boyfriend and I never wanted to get married! Ever."

Max laughed. "I never thought I would. I never thought I would date."

"Never thought you would be naked on the floor in your office, huh?" Slade smiled as Max agreed. "I'm a little disappointed that this wasn't a fight!"

Max chuckled. "Make up sex would be amazing." Slade nodded. "I need you. Let's make up anyway!" Max slid onto Slade and slid into him and they both melted together.
