Day 5

The two days go by. Dylan helps Yue up and down the stairs and the rest of the time she uses a chair with wheels she borrows from his office. She rolls around the house in that thing all day. He smiles unconsciously every time he sees her spin around like an amused kid.

Still, they have not talked much since that day. Yue feels it's unnecessary - and might lead to trouble - and Dylan thinks it is uncomfortable to get to know someone who is forced to be in the same house as you but would rather be somewhere else. She made it clear when she said that being in the hospital would be even worse than being there with him. It is better to keep being indifferent towards each other, if possible. Why complicate something that is so simple?

Little by little, though, both start noticing things about the other, things they had never seen before.

Tonight, as Dylan goes to bed, he sees Yue's door is a tad open, but she seems to be asleep already. He closes it and goes to sleep in his room, across from hers.

Five minutes later, he hears she opens the door again. Weird. However, he does not care enough to ask. Yet.

Day 6

After a whole day of not seeing what she is doing, Dylan goes to bed and sees Yue's door is open again. He closes it only to find it open half an hour later, when he decides to go out for water. Very weird.

Day 7

Her door is open again when he goes to bed.

What is it with this woman and doors?! Why does she want to sleep with the door open? Has she done that all these months? There must be a reason. Should I ask? Maybe I shouldn't pry. After all, we haven't talked much since the foot incident.

Day 8

She definitely never locks her bedroom door! What does this mean? I gotta know!

Day 9

"Good morning!" he says.

"Good morning..." she replies surprised to see him.

"So, how are you managing this lockdown?"

"There's really no need to talk about this, or anything else for that matter... We don't have to be friends, you know..." she answers crudely.

"That's harsh... I was trying to be polite because we live under the same roof. But I honestly do not need this..."

Dylan leaves annoyed by her rudeness and Yue sits in the kitchen and sighs. Argh! Why was I so mean to him? He's just trying to be nice... Yue, he has done nothing wrong to you! Go apologize!

Yue crosses the living room and knocks on Dylan's office door. "Come in."

She enters the room cautiously. She looks around, it is the first time she sees this room. She is captivated by what she finds: figurines and souvenirs from all over the world; his diplomas are hanging on the wall; pictures of happy children with him, most likely his patients, she imagines... There are all kinds of books, from The Great Gatsby to Jurassic Park. This guy is Mary Poppins' bag brought to life! Where does he come from?

"Uhm... I wanted to apologize to you... - she states unable to stop snooping around. – Have you bought all of these? I mean, did you go to all these places?"

"Did you apologize or not? I'm not sure I grasped it..." he asks raising an eyebrow and observing her.

"Yes! Sorry... I mean, forgive me for being so rude to you, you don't deserve it. You did nothing to me... It's not your fault that your grandfather was crazy..." she tells him shrugging her shoulders.
