It's simply a time like any other.

Being of Chinese heritage, you usually hang around the better parts Chinatown but occasionally you venture to other places.

Today is one of those days where you decided to head to the park on the other side of the city. It's pretty large and spacious, with clusters of trees and large grassy fields, making it possible to forget about the bustling city for a while.

You often head here to practice dancing.

Specifically, traditional Chinese dancing.

It's the kind of dance that is hypnotic and alluring, passed down from each generation of your family. You love the feelings of tranquility and pride you experience as you dance as gracefully as you can.

So, you start the song on your small Bluetooth speaker and begin. Slowly opening your fan, you make fluid-like motions and close your eyes to feel the music move you.

At one point, you fumble the fan but recover quickly, chuckling to yourself at the small mistake.

Unbeknownst to you, you have a captive audience.

Yut-Lung walks around the park, graceful as ever and adorned in his traditional clothes. The stress of being in a mafia family has been getting to him lately, so he decided to get some fresh air.

Faintly, he hears the peaceful sounds of music from his homeland. Intrigued, he makes his way to a small shelter of trees where a beautiful young woman dances.

He observes for a moment.

She fumbles with her fan for a split second before recovering with a small giggle. The sound makes his stomach explode with butterflies. How can she laugh like that after making a mistake?

Yut-Lung decides to continue watching, standing perfectly still. She still hasn't noticed his presence yet, and he'd like to keep it that way until she is finished.

As the final notes ring out, you come to a smooth halt and finally open your eyes.

Surprised, your eyes meet that of a man who looks to be around your age. He watches your cheeks heat up with amusement.

"That was wonderful," he tells you.

"Oh, uh, thank you!" You reply, "I didn't know I had an audience or I would have done better..."

"Nonsense, that was superb."

Flattered, you ask, "It was?"

He walks closer, "Truly."

Now that he's closer, you can see his features better. He looks more feminine, with long black hair done up and gorgeous traditional clothes.

The conversation continues, with him introducing himself as Yut-Lung. You return the introduction and compliment his outfit.

As you keep conversing, you exchange numbers and discover a bunch of commonalities like your favorite food and music.

It's been months and you've gotten to know more about Yut-Lung. In fact, you would consider him a close friend. But, you would love to be able to consider him as more than a friend.

And, you were certain that he felt the same way.

But a week ago, that changed.

He stopped responding to your texts, ditched out on your plans, and basically just ghosted you.

You've been desperately trying to find him, going to all the places you can think of. Unfortunately he never told you were he lives, so you've been staking out all the places that you hang out.

Yut-Lung, where are you?

I'm starting to get really worried.

Please text back when you can.

He never texted back.

Suppressing a few tears, you lean back against a tree in the park where you first met him. The sun has just started to set, leaving the world awash in twilight.

"It's dangerous here at night, you know."

Your eyes pop open and you come face to face with Yut-Lung.

Stunned, you simply stare at him.

"You make it impossible," he sighs, "I tried to stay away, I really did."

"But why?"

"Being near me is dangerous. I haven't told you about my family."

"What does your family have to do with this?"

He sits down in front of you, "I am the youngest of the Lee brothers."

"The mafia family? Those 'Lee's'?" You ask for clarification.

"Yes."

"Oh, wow. I didn't see that coming," you chuckle, "So, what does that matter?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, what does it matter that you're mafia? We can still be friends."

He seems to be puzzled, "You're okay with that?"

"Yeah, I know a few other criminals and it's never bothered me," you reply honestly.

"Well, another thing is. I like you. A lot."

A huge grin adorns your face, "I like you too!"

"Really?" He asks, as if he can't imagine anyone ever liking him back.

You nod, "Yes! I was scared you wouldn't like me back so I didn't say anything."

"But, it's dangerous."

"What is?"

"Being with me."

"Because of the mafia?"

"Exactly. You'd be in danger all the time."

You shrug, "Come on, Yut! There's danger everywhere if you look hard enough. Besides, I know you wouldn't let anyone hurt me."

He smiles in disbelief, "I thought you'd be scared."

"Then you obviously don't know me well enough. Good thing I know a way to fix that," you grin and lean in to give him a chaste kiss. "Take me out to dinner."

"Any place in particular?"

"Yours," you smirk, standing up.

He follows suit and takes your hand in his, "I guess it's official now."

"Yup."

"I'm glad."
