Calm

Screams, thuds, and shaking were heard from one room in the tower - Bucky's. Steve had tried relentlessly to calm Bucky down but he only seemed to make it worse so Steve did the next best thing. He ran down the hallway, through the kitchen to the other side of the tower to get Y/n. Bucky and Y/n had this connection that everyone noticed. It was just a sight, like something out of a romance movie.

The avengers had never seen anyone that could calm Bucky down like Y/n did, they've never seen him so happy before. He had always had a smug look on his face, not amused, no emotion and hard to read. Y/n made him so happy and it was funny because they weren't together, they were just friends. Of course the Avengers knew they would make the perfect, cutest couple out of all of them.

"Y/n, its-" Steve said but before he could finish she already knew. She got up quicker than she ever had as Steve informed her about tonight's little nightmare-flashback. It was the worst one yet, usually Steve could at least get through to him somehow but Bucky was so lost. His room was trashed and almost everything was broken. Both Y/n and Bucky felt something towards each other, but they never acted on it for some reason.

They both cared for each other deeply, they always had fun together and enjoyed maybe a little too much of each others company. Especially since they werent even together, they've never kissed or come close to. Bucky loved to make Y/n happy, her smile was the thing he lives for. Her eyes would crinkle and she got these little dimples at the sides of her mouth that werent really dimples. Bucky was funny, a huge doofus when he was up in his spirits.

Y/n lightly knocked on Bucky's door before she opened it only to have a drawer flying at her. Before she could duck Steve reached over her and caught it before she got knocked out by it.
"You can get him to come back down. I'll be listening, just holler or something." Steve nodded and she walked in. This was definitely the worst one yet. Her heart broke when she saw him, he wasnt himself at all.

"Bucky," She called but nothing came from him. He was a mess, his eyes dark and watery. He was still throwing random things around and breaking them.
"No no no no!" He screamed and sunk to the ground with his head in his hands. Y/n walked over to him and touched his metal arm, he whipped his head around to give her a death glare. She wasnt scared of him though. She placed her warm hand on his cold face.
"If you want to kill me go ahead already. Im not doing anything for hydra anymore." He sternly said, staring blankly at nothing. He didnt know it was her, now sitting in front of him.

He got up grabbed his knife, Y/n chased him around until she ended up jumping on his bed and then on his back and somehow got it out of his hand, slicing her own straight across her palm. She whimpered as blood started coming down,  that triggered Bucky snapping out of his flashback halfway.
"Y/n, I-" he began but she shushed him and told him it wasnt his fault.

He started crying and she pulled him down into a hug as they now sat on the ground. His head resting on her collarbone.
"It's okay, Im here. You need to come back to me alright? It's not real." She told him and saw his eyes return to their light blue. He looked exactly like he did when his thoughts and memories were coming back to him.

"Why do you even care?" He harshly asked, his face showing anger.
"Because I do. You're enough to be cared about Buck." She smiled at him and held him tighter. She gently rocked him like a toddler, said to soothe almost about anyone young old or middle aged. He calmed down mostly, still sometimes twitching and muttering things. She looked at his room, you had to climb over things if you wanted to get to the door. Bed frame, dresser, lamps, desk are broken. Clothes scattered around his floor. His mattress was half against the wall and the rest laying on the floor as it make a fold where it switched to the door or floor. Sheets hanging from the ceiling fan, it looked like someone released monkeys.

There were multiple holes in the walls from punches or kicks. There was so much anger in this man but you wouldnt know if you just met him because he was the sweetest man alive. Y/n's right arm was resting on his back and her left hand was on his right cheek as they sat against the wall.
"Thank you. I dont know how you do it, you just get through to me doll." He stated, 100% calmed down now about fifteen minutes later when his breathing returned to normal.
"I always have your back Bucky. My room or yours?" She asked, there was no way he would stay in his room with it like this.

"Mm, yours. I feel safer with you." She chuckled, he was just a soft bear even though he could probably kill you with his pinky. Thats what she loved about him. They got up and she took his metal hand, leading him through the mess he had made and towards her room.
"Hey Buck." Steve patted him on the back of his shoulder as they walked by. Silently giving Y/n a salute when she turned around to look at him.

Bucky was tired, exhausted after his meltdown that he immediately climbed into her bed like a little kid. She got under the covers and held out her arms, he scooted over into them and he knew he was safe. He fell asleep pretty quickly and Y/n stayed up playing with strands of his hair while also rubbing his back. His head practically in between her breasts but she didnt care, he was peaceful at the moment. Bucky had fallen asleep to the sound of her steady heartbeat, soon enough beating in sync with his own calm heart.

He screamed himself awake along with Y/n. His chest was heaving up and down and all he did was look over at her and wrapped his arms around her tightly. She lifted his head up so he'd look in her eyes.
"You're safe. I promise swear to you, it was just a little nightmare. I'll see if I can send a wonderful dream to your head, one stronger than the last one alright?" Y/n told him and he nodded at her thinking. She sent a dream into his head earlier but it turned into a nightmare. Trial and error.

His eyes showed exhaustion, his hair ruffled, his mouth in a straight line. Her arm gently pushed him to lay back down, while he controlled his breaths. Bucky stared at the ceiling of her room, then he focused his mind on the feeling of her soft bed and her presence right next to him. He closed his eyes again, falling back to sleep with the best dream he's ever had.

Y/n couldn't exactly control the dreams, like what they were about, who is in them and whatnot. She just sends a strong signal to his brain motioning it to be a great dream. But sometimes it doesnt work because of his trauma. Bucky had a dream or more like a vision some would say, that Y/n and him got married. He felt the happiest hes ever felt in that dream, he was just so in love with her there.
