ELLA SAMUELS SUPPOSED that right after their third night at Alexandria, that was when her proper nightmares truly ever began. Such a thing was only expected — with the community's overly ordinary atmosphere. A type of predicament that caused her to stay up late for the majority of the night, staring at the ceiling, and just waiting for something, or someone, to interrupt her quiet moment of peace.

However, during those few hours of slumber, did her mind ever begin to use fear to its ultimate advantage. As, naturally, Ella always had night terrors, here and there. Nothing too extreme, if one were to take into mind their current way of life. As such, it was not an uncommon occurrence, to wake up in a cold sweat, after dreaming of blood shed and the living corpses. It was seen quite often, with every member of their group.

Ella had seen it a lot, what months on the road could do to someone. People like Carl, or any of the others who would wake randomly in the night. Of course, she was never one to fall asleep early, so it became a normal occurrence to see a person, here and there, wake up, panting and covered in sweat, from whatever terrorized their mind that night. Regarding Carl, whenever he was the one that night to be affected, the two merely brushed it off. It was simply something they had never mentioned again, or perhaps forgotten, due to their fatigue in the moonlight forest.

Although, it was often always hard to forget the others, who she had never once spoken too. Whenever there were days when people like Abraham, Rosita, Sasha, or hell, even Daryl woke up randomly in the night — it always provoked her curiosity. As expected though, it was never brought up. Some had never even found out she caught them, in their momentary seconds of vulnerability.

Though, when some of the adults did see her glancing over, very much awake, did they almost always choose to not acknowledge it. And, to be fair, Ella saw no problem with such a thing.

It only made her life easier, in the end.

Needless to say though, when it was finally her turn to experience the true terrors of what nightmares could do, it came on much more unexpectedly than she had ever gotten the chance to experience.
