The days were going slow and we were heading towards the chilly side of the year. It was end of October, which meant Maverick's birthday was in sight. This was his 21st birthday and apparently Chris had planned it all. According to him this birthday would be a lot different, great and special.
Chris and Ezekiel were working early today so they left before us and James was picking Maverick up so that left us to walk to school. We could take the bus but Isaiah said he was in no mood to engage with or even see other people this early in the day and I was apparently enough annoyance for him to plug his earphones on. I huffed in annoyance as he did that, I could use some talk right now. He noticed me staring and grumbling, he retorted to rolling his eyes and continued ignoring me. I would better walk alone next time.
Noah was joining today, I still don't know how I felt about that. Chris had already warned me multiple times to stay away from him or any other boy as a matter of fact but I knew he was just being overprotective this time. Girls my age were allowed to have fun and boyfriends but obviously be safe. I wish he understood that, not that I was going to date Noah but a little freedom would do good.
As we got closer to the school, Isaiah's earphones were removed roughly. As far as I knew, Isaiah would never associate with someone who would do that, I had once tried to do that and it didn't end well. Isaiah in his early teenage days had real anger issues, according to him he is better now but I don't agree, he is too serious and always looks like he'll burst.
I looked back to see the culprit and saw a blonde curly haired girl, with freckles adorning her face, she wore a sheepish smile that made her look really cute but I pitied her. I looked at Isaiah, who as expected, was fuming.
He turned around, probably to lash at the poor girl but something made him stop.
"Hey! Isaiah right?" She asked enthusiastically. She was really chirpy this early in the morning but it was refreshing.
Isaiah nodded, he seemed annoyed and I could see his clenched fist and stormy eyes but to my surprise he wasn't lashing out already as he would do to me. Maybe he tried to be calm among strangers or it was the girl. She was pretty and definitely not a sore sight to look at.
"I am Sarah, you are in my Chemistry class. I don't think you noticed me, well I don't think you notice anybody." She said all this in a rush, Isaiah stood there with a blank expression, I couldn't tell if he was offended or not. Sarah quickly realized what she said and continued, "I am so sorry if this came out rude, I didn't mean to offend you. It's just that you don't really talk to anybody at school and seem really closed off, not that it's bad thing but just an observation." She rambled and was all fingers and thumbs.
"Anyways, I was hoping you could help me with Chemistry, I heard you are in top of our class and you seem like you must be a great tutor for me as you see I am practically failing in the subject." She laughed nervously after that. I wanted to say same sis, same. She was waiting for Isaiah's answer but I knew what his answer would be so I decided to play a little.
"No, I don't tu-" He started saying but I interrupted.
"He does, he teaches really well, he can make you understand a concept in seconds. In fact I would say that he is a better teacher than Mrs. Durham." I said smiling at her meaningfully. She looked at me confused so to clarify her bewilderment I started, "I am his sister. Believe me, he is teaching me chemistry since years and I haven't failed a class. He is a little shy to accept but I assure you he would definitely help you."
I caught Isaiah glaring at me, well I was having a little too much fun with this.
"Aliyah, would you please kindly tell her that you are barely passing and if this goes on you are definitely going to fail in the next test." He said, his eyes squinted secretly telling me to back off.
