Chapter Eight: Frat Part Two
unedited
Wait a minute, did she just say Petrova? As in Silas Petrova? Raia's words confirmed my suspicions, and my mouth hung open in disbelief. "I'm very pleased to meet you, the long-awaited mate of my dear cousin," she exclaimed. Oddly enough, despite not looking like cousins, they resembled siblings even more. Her jet-black hair and fawn-brown eyes mirrored Silas's flawlessly.
"It's nice to meet you too," I replied, trying to suppress the shock running through my body. "Sorry for looking a bit wild, I was just napping," I explained, attempting to climb out of my bed.
Raia chuckled apologetically. "Sorry to barge in on you like this," she explained. "But after Beverly told me about you, I just had to come see you in person. Silas hasn't really told anyone about this, as far as I know. Rumors have been circulating though."
It was no surprise that Silas hadn't disclosed the truth; a human Luna was rare and undesirable for a werewolf king.
My eyes darted towards Beverly, and she gave me an apologetic glance, aware of how I kept this information in confidence. However, considering Raia was part of Silas's family, I knew the secret wouldn't remain hidden for much longer.
"Your cousin can be quite-"
Before I could finish, Raia couldn't help but interject with a smirk. "Stubborn, annoying, arrogant, and unbearably arrogant?"
We all laughed heartily, I nod in agreement. "I can't really argue with that description," I admitted.
Raia nodded her head, acknowledging my newness to the situation. "Trust me, Silas is very reserved with his emotions, but he does experience a lot more than he lets on," she explained. "Just stick around, and you'll witness it for yourself."
I chuckled softly and responded, "Well, since I'm stuck here for the next four years, I have no choice but to endure." Raia laughed, her smile warm and understanding.
"Alright, now that we've sorted that out," Beverly interjected, a playful grin on her face, "the real question is, what are we wearing for tonight, ladies?"
I turned to Raia, surprise etched on my face. "You're also going to the party?"
With a shrug, Raia gestured toward Beverly, who was already rifling through the closet. "Yeah, she practically begged me to join."
Beverly glanced at us, her brows furrowed in a mock frown. "Excuse you, I did not," she protested. "Admit it - you're totally smitten with Lachlan, and you know he'll be there. He's an SAE brother, after all."
Raia's eyes widened, and she vehemently denied the accusation. "I am not!"
In an instant, I found a piece of clothing flying towards my face, obscuring my vision. Once I pulled it off, I discovered a tiny black dress that Beverly had hurled at me.
"No way," I declared, refusing.
Beverly continued her argument, her voice becoming more persuasive. "Silas has been giving you the silent treatment, Baby. Wearing something cute and eye-catching will surely get his attention," she insisted.
I rolled my eyes, still not swayed by her words. "I don't need to dress like that just to get his attention. Not that I even want it anyway," I protested.
After rummaging through her whole collection, the only outfit that was slightly less revealing was a black crop top with straps intricately crossed around my stomach, to my surprise. To go with it, Beverly had chosen high-rise jeans with torn details, and a black bralette for me to wear. Despite not being a big fan of black clothing, I had to admit that the ensemble looked really nice on my body.
