Don't leave me!

"times almost up...hmm, it looks like they don't care about you as much as you thought," Scarecrow told the girl, smiling evilly at her.

"They're going to be here, I can feel it," Artemis told him, he just laughed.

"oh you can feel it...just like how you felt Gar the other night," He said with an evil laugh, he then looked at his watch.

"five minutes...well it was nice knowing you for the last two years but, people come and go," he said grabbing his keys and walking out the door.

"I'll see you in hell!"Artemis yelled."you'll be there for a long time before I get their" Scarcrow told her.

"I don't mind waiting," Artemis said before he walked out.

He was three minutes away and was stopped by a black jeep. Dawn, Donna, Rose, and Kory got out and walked up to the car. Scarecrow jumped out and was ready to fight but Conner stopped him and held him. Everyone else got out of the SUV they had and walked up to him.

"where's Artemis?" Dawn asked, all Scarecrow did was laugh, Gar punched and kicked him until blood came out of his nose and mouth. Dick stopped him.

"Where. Is. She?!" Gar growled with his eyes green." Awww, is the prince trying to save his princess...how sweet" Scarecrow said then Dick shocked him with one of his escrima sticks to get him to talk.

" you now only have a minute left to save her...hope you make it" he laughed like a maniac while looking in the direction of the barn she was in. Gar took off his clothes, turned into a tiger, and ran. He saw an abandoned barn and ran to it, he knew she was in there he could feel it. He was so close but then the barn exploded and Gar was blown back by it. Conner ran up to him and gave him his clothes, he changed back and put them on. He ran to what was left of the burning barn and tried to find her. He saw her in the middle of the barn, not moving or breathing. He ran over to her and held her in his arms, he tried to shake her awake.

"Artemis...come on, please...Don't leave me!" he said with tears in his eyes."Don't leave me!...I-I-I love you!" Gar said sobbing. He brushed her hair behind her ear" I'm sorry...I love you so much, please come back to me...please" he sobbed more and more wanting her to wake up, but she never did. He picked her up bridal style and took her to everyone who was standing a few feet away from what was left of the barn. When they saw her lifeless body in his arms they all felt a wave of sadness hit them. Dawn ran up to Gar and put her hands on Artemis's cheeks.

"No...No, No, No" Dawn cried, Hank ran over and held Dawn in his arms. Rachel, Rose, and Conner started crying, Kory and Donna comfort them all. Dick walked up to Gar put his hand on his shoulder. Dick then signaled for Conner over to get Artemis but Gar growled at him for trying to take her out of his arms. They all went back to the car where Krypto and Shadow watched Scarecrow. Once Shadow saw Artemis he whined and then growled at Scarecrow and started biting his leg so hard that it started bleeding.

"GET OFF ME YOU STUPID MUTT!!!" Scarecrow yelled at Shadow. Connor punched him out of anger and sadness. Donna, Kory, Conner, and Hank took Scarecrow while the others took Artemis back to the tower. Dawn cleaned her up while still crying.

"I should have said something...I shouldn't have let you go" Dawn said through tears.

"I'm so sorry...I tried to be like a mother to you...but what mother lets their daughter go when they know they're in danger"

"I love you...so much Johanna" Dawn said still crying.

As Dick was preparing a funeral and Gar was in the tech room grieving while drink scotch, Artemis's favorite. Rachel walked in and put her hand on his shoulder.

"you shouldn't drink...it doesn't solve anything," Rachel told him.

"It was her favorite," He told her then downing the last of the scotch that was in the glass.

"So how are you doing?" she asked him.

"how do you think I'm doing...I just lost the one I loved and...and I could have done something to stop it" He told her.

"no you couldn't-" "yes I could have Rachel," he told her.

"no you couldn't have...and she wouldn't want you sitting here feeling sorry for her while drinking," She told him and he got angry.

"says the person who makes everyone feel sorry for herself, but never feels sorry for them," he said to her.

"says the person who let someone he loved walk away to her death," Rachel said before walking out. Gar began to cry, it was his fault for letting her go to her death. He went to his room and sat on the floor hugging his knees.

"I'm sorry...I'm so sorry!" he sobbed.
