The River

warning: fluff, suicidal, mentions of suicide

"So where are we going exactly?"Gar asked as they walked through the woods"

"There," Artemis said pointing at the field in front of them. Gar just looked at her confused.

"I thought you were going to hunt, "Gar said still confused.

"well as we were walking here I realized how long it's been since I've been to this place," She said looking at the field.                                                                        

"what's so special about this field?"Gar asked looking at the purple-haired girl.

"watch," She told him and then took off running through the field, when she did fireflies started to come out of the field and surround her. The fireflies liked her and she loved them. Gar couldn't help but look at the fireflies in amazement. Artemis ran back to him and grabbed his hand taking him to the middle of the field. She sat down in the grass and watched as the fireflies dance in the night, Gar sat next to her.

"Is this why you wanted to come here?"He asked with a smile. 

"yeah...It's one reason" She said.

"what's the other reason?" he asked. She looked down and her smile dropped.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"Nothing," She said back. He didn't believe her.

"What is wrong? tell me" he asked her again.

"I told you, it's nothing," Artemis said getting defensive again.

"Does it have something to do with your mom?" Gar asked her and she stood up and ran into the woods. He cased after her.                         

"ARTEMIS!" he called running after her.

"ARTEMIS!, COME BACK!" he called again as they ran through the woods, she stopped at a medium-sized waterfall.

"ARTEMIS!" she heard Gar yell and then she saw him getting closer to her. She then took a few steps back, ran, and jumped in the waterfall before he could get to her. He watched her fall and then heard a big splash. He was hoping that she was ok as he called for her.

"ARTEMIS!" he called again getting more and more worried."Damn it, Artemis" Gar said as he took off his jacket and jumped in as well. When he hit the water it hurt but he fought through it and swam to the surface. He looked around, took a deep breath, and went back underwater. Opened his eyes and looked for her. He spotted her, she was caught on a rock and was struggling to get free, she began losing consciousness. Gar swam over to her and tried to free her, she lost consciousness and that made Gar try harder to get her free. He finally did, he then grabbed her and swam to the surface. He swam her to the land surrounding the river they were in, but she wasn't breathing. He began to do CPR, he started with 6 chest compressions, then did mouth to mouth, and repeated. He had done it 5 times but couldn't give up. He gave her mouth to mouth one last time and she began coughing as water came out of her mouth. She was breathing again and Gar could only hug the girl and she hugged back.

"O my God I was so worried, are you ok?"He asked relieved that she was alive, he then got angry.

"What the hell were you thinking jumping into that waterfall...you could have died!"He told her.

"Why did you save me?"Artemis asked."Maybe I wanted to die".

"why?" he asked now more concerned than ever.

"Because I-I...I'm sick of life...all life has done is screw me over and all I've ever felt is pain and heartbreak...the last time I ever felt loved was before I watched my mother die trying to save me"Artemis explained with tears as tears fell down her face.
