Bright and early at 5:30 am, Will Solace-di Angelo gets awoken by his 11 year-old daughter, Bianca.
"DAD! WAKE UP! THERE'S A SPIDER IN MY ROOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!" she cries.
"It's okay, Bee. Where is it, hon?" he says in a soothing voice.
"I'll show you!" as his daughter grabs him by the hand, he can't help but look at the words, inked by the universe, on his wrist: 'Oh my gods! I'm so sorry, I'll buy you a new one', the first words his soulmate ever said to him. Ah, Nico, his beloved. As Will squashed the spider in Bianca's room, he couldn't help but remember how Nico died: a bullet to the chest in a bank robbery.
"Dad," Bianca said. "Can you tell me the story of how you and Papa met? It never gets old."
"Sure, honey. It was a regular old day. I got up and got ready for the day, not knowing it would be the day I met my soulmate. I went to Caribou((iykyk)) and when I was walking out, a really cute guy ran into me and accidentally made me drop my muffin. Can you guess what he said?"
"Hmmmm. Did he say 'I'm sorry'?" Bianca questions.
"Close, but no. Wanna try again?" Will says.
"Did he say 'Oh my gods! I'm so sorry, I'll buy you a new one'?"
"Spot on, Bee! I replied with 'Oh, there's no need', and he just stood there, shell-shocked and surprised. He kept looking from me, to his wrist, back to me, then back to his wrist, for about thirty seconds. He said 'Say that again?' and I said 'Oh, theres no need?' and I finally caught on. I said, 'So, you're my soulmate? My name is Will Solace. Yours?' and he said 'I guess. My name's Nico di Angelo. Nice to meet you.' and it just got better from there. We got married, got you, and life was good. It still is good. Goodnight, Bee. I love you so much."
"Goodnight dad, I love you too. Hey dad?"
"Yes, Bee?"
"I miss Papa." Bianca said, in a sad tone.
"I miss him too, Bee. Goodnight"
"Goodnight"
Both went back to bed with tears in their eyes, thinking about the guy who made such an impact in their lives: as a dad and as a husband.
