His Neko

Chapter 2

      Roman and Rin exit Roman's room. They head downstairs and pass their fathers in the main room.
       "Rin, where are you and Prince Roman going?" Rin's father asks.
         "He going to show me the village father, see how I would like it here." Rin answers.
           "Oh. You like Prince Roman already?" Rin's father chuckles as he speaks.
            "When, yes, he's great." Rin looks away, pretending to be flustered.
             "I see. Well you kid have fun, not too much though." King Cory teases.
              "Yes father." Rin states before dragging Roman out of the castle. "It's hard to pretend to like you, Ro."
               "I know. You're a great actor though." Roman compliments.
                 "Thank you." Rin smiles, "Ready to show me the village?"
                  "Of course, this way." Roman leads Rin through the village. They walk warping for a few minutes, saying hi to the little kids the run up to them, or having small talk with some of the older villagers. Soon though, they see some children around 14-15 throwing food at something.
               "Hey. What are they doing?" Rin asks.
                "I have no idea. Hold I'll go look." Roman says making his way towards the kids.
                 "Be careful!" Rin yells after him.
                  Roman walks up to the group of 6. He stands behind them trying to get a look at what they're throwing food at.
                 "Excuse me!" Roman shouts slightly.
                 The kids turn around. Panic appears in their faces.
                  "May I ask of what your throwing food at?" Roman questions.
                  "I-it's just a Neko. Someone's pet ran away." One kid answer.
                  "Just because it's a Neko, doesn't mean you can throw food at it. Now run along before we have more trouble." Roman states coldly. The kids nod and run away. Once they were gone Roman look at the small Neko, it was a boy. His height was about 5'2, his fur matted and tangled. He had black hair with a black tail and ears, both have purple tip. His eyes bright violet.
                Roman smiles gently at the scared creature. "Shh it's ok." Roman moves closer to the Neko.
                 "Please, don't hurt me, please." The Neko moves away from Roman, pushing himself against the wall.
"I'm not. You're ok." Roman soothes. "Is it ok if my friend come over? She wants to help you too."
Virgil nods, "I-I guess." Roman smiles at him gently. He waves Rin over.
"Oh my." Rin gasps once she gets over to the two. "You poor thing! Roman we have to get him back to the castle!"
"I know, but my father doesn't like Nekos, thinks of them like slaves. It's been like that since my great grandfather. Me and Remus hate the law." Roman explains.
"A-Are you going to take me back?" The Neko asks quietly.
"Take you where, hunny?" Rin asks, sitting beside Roman.
"M-master. Please don't take me back! He hurts me!" The Neko rushes out.
"Shh. We're not taking you back. I have a friend named Patton. He is the town Baker, he will help." Roman explains, "Once you're clean up and changed. I'll ask father if I could have you as my pet, but you won't be used as one. I'll treat you right, ok?"
The Neko nods. He cliches when Rin looks at his tag. "Sorry hunny, I'm just looking at your name." Rin apologizes. "Virgil. That's a wonderful name."
"It is? Master says it stupid." Virgil says quietly.
"Of course, it's beautiful. Your old master was a bad person. Roman is going to be your new master, ok? He'll be a good master." Rin says.
Virgil looks at Roman. "R-really? You won't hurt me like old master?"
"Of course not. Nekos half feelings too. I hate that stupid law." Roman says, "What was your old masters name? It's in law that they aren't allowed to abuse the Neko, they are for work purposes. Or pets, for like children."
"Oh. Old master name was Camren Brown." The Neko answers.
Roman smiles, "Thank you, Virgil." Roman stands up and helps Rin up. "C'mon, Let's get you clean up." Roman picks the Neko up, earning a Yelp. "Oh sorry, did I hurt you?"
"N-no. Old master would do this then drop me as a punishment." The Neko explains.
"I'm not going to drop you. You're ok. If you want, wrap your legs around my waist and your arms around my shoulders. You might feel safer."
"I-I'm allowed to touch you?" Virgil asks.
"Of course, why wouldn't you?" Roman questions.
"Old master gave me a punishment If I touch him without him touching me." Virgil explains.
"Oh my, hunny you're allowed to touch me or Roman, ok?" Rin answers for Roman.
"Oh. Ok." Virgil wraps his arms and legs around Roman. Roman smiles and looks at Rin. Rin smiles back at Roman.
"We're here, ok?" Roman asks the Neko as Rin opens the shop's door.
"Will they hurt me?" Virgil ask slightly scared.
"No! Patton is one of the nicest people." Roman reassures Virgil as they walk into the shop. "Patton!" Roman calls out.
They hear a 'coming!' Then footsteps. A man around 5'6 walks out.
"Oh hi kiddos- Oh my!" Patton rushes over as Roman sets Virgil down. Virgil clings to the side of Roman. "You're ok kiddo, I'm not going to hurt you."
Virgil looks up at Roman. "He won't I promise." Roman says.
"Ok." Virgil looks at Patton. Letting go of Roman.
"C'mon kiddo. let's go upstairs, clean you up." Patton takes a step forward. "My husband Logan, he will help clean your cuts. But, if you unit comfortable with just us up there, Roman could come too. Would that be ok, kiddo? If he came with us?"
"Yeah. That's ok." Virgil says.
"Rin would you stay down here and watch the shop for me, please?" Patton questions.
"Yes, of course." Rin answers, going behind the counter.
"C'mon kiddos." Patton starts up the stairs.
"Can you walk on your own ok?" Roman asks the smaller boy.
"I-I think." Virgil answers. Roman wraps his arm around the Neko 's waist, leading him up the stairs. Once at the top, they're met by a tall man probably 6'1.
"Hello Prince Roman. And you are?" The man asks.
Virgil looks at Roman. "This is Virgil." Roman answers for him.
"Hello Virgil. I am Logan Sanders."
"H-hi." He says quietly.
"Logan go on to Patton. Let me talk with Virgil real quick." Roman says.
"Alright." Logan walks away.
Virgil looks at Roman, fear in his eyes. "Did I do something wrong?" His voice wavers.
"No! No, you didn't do anything wrong. I just wanted to make sure you were ok." Roman says.
"Oh. Sorry. It's just I wasn't allowed to speak without master permission. You're my new master so, I thought I had to ask you." Virgil explains.
"You don't have to ask permission to speak, or anything like that." Roman tells Virgil.
"Ok."
