Blind Faith
Kuroo Tetsurou

Tetsurou twisted the ring around his finger. He watched as the fine silver glimmered in the dim light coming from the fireplace. He sat on the hard floor against the wall, back hunched as he rested his arms against his spread knees.
His eyes were sore, from both exhaustion and the tears he shed earlier on in the evening. The burning wood in the fireplace crackled, and a feint cough coming from the other side of the wall followed right after.
It sounded weaker than the ones from earlier, from when Tetsurou had been pacing around in a panic. They didn't sound as bad, but they definitely didn't sound any better.
They had only been going on a walk, Tetsurou couldn't quite understand why this was happening.
For a few days now, Kenma had been complaining about feeling poorly. It was around that time of the season when illness did seem more prominent. The boy had been laying in bed for almost a week now, refusing to get up.
Tetsurou simply thought a walk with some fresh air would help Kenma get out of his slight funk. But not long after leaving the palace, Kenma had collapsed to the ground in a fit of coughs.
In a frenzy, Testurou had carried the omega back inside. Kenma had passed out in his arms, a little bit of blood tinting his lips.
Four doctors have already visited and examined him, and each one came out of that room with no clue.
Tetsurou has stayed by the door ever since Kenma was taken out of his arms and put in bed. The staff members refused to let Tetsurou in, too worried that he might catch whatever this illness is.
Quite frankly, Tetsurou didn't care. He wanted to see Kenma, he needed to be by his side. It was agonizing, waiting here in the dimly lit dark while he waited for his love's fate.
With a heavy sigh, Tetsurou dropped his head against his clasped hands. The coolness of his ring made itself known against Testruou's forehead. Kenma adorned the same ring, though it was quite smaller so it could fit his dainty finger.
"Tetsurou."
Glancing up, Tetsurou met eyes with his older sister. Jin stood there, towering over the younger alpha with worried brows. She had a wool blanket tucked under her arm, which she handed to Tetsurou after a moment of silence.
"Get some sleep, for gods sake. Depriving yourself won't be doing Kenma any good."
Tetsurou scoffed, making no signs to grab the offered blanket. "I can't sleep, not when Kenma is in there suffering."
Jin clicked her tongue, frowning. With a sigh, she set next to Tetsurou, throwing the blanket over his shoulders. "I think you cause him enough suffering each day with your presence," she joked, hoping to get a smile out of her little brother. She smirked, nudging Tetsurou's arm.
The boy only gave her a deadpanned stare.
When it was obvious that Tetsurou wasn't going to laugh, or even smile at the playful jab, Jin dropped her own smile. She hummed as she leant back against the wall. Both of them grimaced at the sound of a rather painful cough. It filled their own chests with pain, as if they could feel the effect of the cough.
