Colors are the smiles of nature
~ Leigh Hunt
//A couple weeks later//
Standing in the middle of the empty art gallery, looking up at my canvas of the sunset.
I was at the beach in the perfect L.A weather, looking at the sunset over the horizon and painting my heart out. I had a lit joint in between my lips. It helps me relax. I paint better with the euphoria the weed gives me. Some one noticed my painting and gave me their card. Told me to call them if I was interested in sharing my work for there art gallery grand opening.
I of course called them the next day and took the offer. So here I am, super early and full of nerves. I've never really had other people see my work that isn't weddings or windows. This is something that I did completely on my own. For no one but me. It makes me feel a little vulnerable but I can't hide away my talent forever. It's not like I'm standing naked in front of anyone. But it sure feels like it.
My mind keeps replaying the night at the wedding I was hired for. Specifically, the green eyed, curly headed, dimple smile, musician. Harry.
After the wedding reception was over, we went our separate ways. I didn't give him my number, partly because he was to waisted to ask. And I was to scared to ask for his. I know, I'm an idiot. But I would rather be an idiot then get rejected by The Harry Styles. I knew I was never going to see him again. So it doesn't bother me all that much.
An hour before they open the doors. People are running around getting everything ready. I'm just staring at my work. I might look like an imbecile but I don't care. I'm dressed in a black strapless dress that ends mid thigh with red strapless heels. My makeup is pretty simple, just light eyeshadow and bright red lips to match. I hope it's not to much.
"You excited?"
I turn around to see the same man that I met at the beach, Connor.
"Yes, I'm really excited. More nervous but I'll be okay." I smile
"Yeah don't worry, everyone will love your work. Just like me." He smiles and heads back to a group of people I don't know.
And before I know it, it's 7:00 p.m and people are filling in. Calm down, it's okay.
"Oakley?" The familiar British accent calls.
I turn my head to see the green eyes I've honestly missed and his smile that exposes his dimples.
"Harry? What are you doing here?" I ask as he pulls me into a side hug. Weird.
"Im one of the sponsors that helped organize and open this place. What are you doing here? You look great! Do you have some art up?" He asks looking around. Wow, a sponsor?
"Thanks, you to. Oh yeah, it's that sunset one over there. My names at the bottom of it." I tell him as I lead him towards it. He stops right in front of it, his mouth hung open.
"What? Is it bad? I knew it was I should just leave an-"
"No- no it's definitely not bad Oakley Joan. It's- it's magnificent. Really it is." He interrupts, his broad hands resting in my shoulders.
"Really?" I ask, worry laced in my voice. He nods his head without hesitation with his beautiful smile.
"I missed you after the wedding. I'm sorry I didn't say bye." Harry says, looking at all the other art work here.
"Oh that's okay, I didn't say bye either." I tell him.
"Can I ask you something?" He says. He stops right in front of me, looking into my eyes. I nod my head and furrow my eyebrows.
