Ben
"No." I whispered unable to find my own annoying squeaky voice. The thought of Erica... dying... gosh what a thought. The girl is practically invincible, no way she could ever just disappear, POOF! Gosh after everything we've been through together, from the very beginning when I was hopeless kid unable to shoot a gun... oh wait I still can't do that. Gosh why am I still sitting around here I should be helping her!
I looked over at Oliver who was still transfixed to his phone and asked, "Where?"
He smirked at me, displaying a set of perfect shiny white chompers, and teased, "Only speaking with one word, cute."
I lashed out and punched his shoulder and he yelped dropping his phone, I watched as the glass shattered on the tile floor. Oliver gave me the one of the scariest glances one of which can compete with Erica's. He groaned, kneeling and picking up his now broken phone and surveying the damage I caused.
"Seriously man?" He asked slipping his now useless phone into his pocket.
"What do you mean seriously? You literally had no case!" I quipped back crossing my arms in front of myself. Oliver simply shook his head in annoyance and turned his back to me. I watched silently as he pointed to my right, towards the check-in desk. I whispered a thanks as quietly as I could as I took off.
My foot steps pounded on the white tile as I sprinted, honestly I didn't take into account how close I was to the check in area. Instead of slowing down like a normal person I slipped on a blood puddle and crashed into the front of the desk, flipping over it. I landed on my back and groaned trying to inhale but failed.
Beside me someone laughed and then groaned in pain, and I recognized both the laugh and the groan. I turned my head and I was greeted with a very familiar face, who's icy blue eyes were crinkled in both amusement and obvious pain. She gave me small smile before gasping and clutching a wound on her stomach. Somehow the air I was missing suddenly returned and I quickly rolled over towards Erica. I pulled myself up and quickly grasped Erica's hand, she gave me a confused look.
"I-" I tried to say my voice full of raw emotion and worry, "Erica." I tried again but failed, my voice giving up once again. Erica's eyelids fluttered lazily and I knew she was going to pass out soon, the wound on her stomach still bleeding. I smiled at the stitches which were obviously done by Erica because of the neat handiwork. However they weren't doing a very good job, although I'm sure they were just temporary. She still needed to get the bullet removed from her torso.
Leaning forward I gently placed my lips on her forehead, her hair tickling me. She seemed to relax slightly, or maybe it was my hopeful thinking. After pulling away her disoriented icy eyes found mine and she grumbled, "No kisses." with a little pout face. I knew this Erica, the one who got drugged and won't act normally. Someone must've given her an extremely high dosage of pain killers based on the way she was smirking at me.
A big warm hand suddenly squeezed my shoulder and I jerked away and turned towards him pulling my Nerf blaster from my pocket. The man gasped in surprise when I squeezed the trigger and a foam dart was suddenly stuck to his nose.
He pulled the dart from his nose and handed it to me, "So yeah, I understand why we didn't give you a gun." I blushed in embarrassment and grabbed my very valuable ammunition, reloading it in my blue and orange gun. I recognized the man I shot, even in the bullet proof vest and the two handguns holstered on his legs. Less than a day ago he wore a white apron which read "Don't kiss the cook he has herpes" and was flipping burgers.
I quickly apologized and Paul gave me a small sad smile as he pointed over at Erica, "I can help her, she has to come back to camp though."
Looking over at my friend I nodded my head, she really needed help. The stitches she gave herself might've saved her life, but she really needed bandages and peroxide.
