BTW I updated the end of the last chapter so maybe just reread the last bit, lol I didn't mean to I thought it was a draft but guess not.
Ben
Kennedy quickly picked up the little black box and answered quickly her voice raising an octave, "What. What do you mean?"
Suddenly someone behind us screamed and a loud crash followed causing Kennedy to curse and drop her walkie. It fell out of the ATV and onto the ground below, a crunch following as the wheels crushed it. I quickly fumbled in the storage compartment in front of me and managed to come up with a flashlight. Clicking it on I was greeted with the sweet relief of light. Kennedy quickly tried to snatch it from me but I managed to grunt, "Kennedy these things are sensitive to light, they can already see in the dark."
Kennedy's dark eyes glinted with doubt but overall reflected worry. I gave her a reassuring smile and handed her my flashlight. My stomach lurched again, seeming to point behind us, towards the screams.
I gently jumped out of the passenger seat and looked one last time at Kennedy. Who simply sat in shock the flashlight loosely clutched in her right hand. Light illuminated around her, looking quite eerie. My eyes began to slightly burn and I looked away back on the darkness. Every since I turned I could see in the dark much better than before. Which made some sense I suppose, built in night vision googles, whut whut.
Looking around I could already see these fallen angels and I stood my ground. Hopefully they couldn't sense my fear like a dog. This was confirmed when one of them made this horrible gurgle noise which I easily understood.
"Leader."
I swallowed hard and tried to control my breathing. Spending time with Carol and her gang made me forget about my infection. However I knew I could save all of my friends if I could figure out what these things wanted. Or even if I could figure out how to control them.
I licked my lips in anticipation and uttered a growl suddenly the night became silent again. No more growls and loud breathing from these treacherous beings. I think I told them to stop but I honestly didn't know.
I heard shuffling on my right and looked over to see a tall monstrous being step forward. Scars marked his body and black liquid dripped from holes. I swallowed hard knowing someone tried protecting themselves from this creature.
"Why?" this thing seemed to ask in it's ghoulish language.
"I will handle them. What do you want." My lungs protested and my tongue felt oddly sore from trying to speak their language. However the more I attempted the easier it became.
"Follow." It called and turned it's tall white body away from me. I watched in curiosity but it looked back at me with its silver eyes pleading me to come. I looked around one last time and bounded after the tall white being.
Erica
"Ugh what the hell happened." I groaned trying to sit up and gasped in pain clutching my stomach. Sophie gently pushed me back down and gave me a stink eye.
"You were shot." She grumbled watching me to make sure I didn't suddenly sit up again. My mouth tasted like sandpaper and I longed for a glass of refreshing McDonald's Sprite (which hits). Honestly don't judge me on liking that Sprite it's just so spicy.
Sighing I placed a hand gently on the bandages wincing at the slight contact. I glanced up at Sophie admiring her soft brown eyes and asked, "How long ago?" She winced knowing I would not like the answer at all.
"Two hours ago maybe?" She hesitantly answered and I suddenly felt my veins turn icy. This was not like me, getting shot in general is not an Erica move. Being unconscious for two hours is also weak, and Erica is not weak. I am not weak. However I noticed something was missing.
