Two days had gone by, and Atticus was yet again at the diner. Her phone rang, it was another unknown number but she figured it was probably Spencer, so she asked someone to watch her tables so she could step outside.

"Hello?"

"Hi, pretty girl"

"Another payphone, I take it"

"Actually, no. I didn't get a chance to call you before we took off, so I'm calling you from my cell"

"Is that why you're whispering?", she laughed a little.

"Yes", he joined in on her giggles, "Are you at home?"

"Nope, working."

"Diner or tattoo shop?"

"Diner"

"What time do you get off?"

"Midnight"

"We'll be back by then, I'll pick you up"

Ok, thanks--uh I gotta go, bye"

"Bye. Love you."

"I'm sorry, WHAT? Spence? Spencer?!", there was no response, "What the fuck", she whispered to herself.

Spencer's eyes widened as he realized what he had just said, "Morgan, I need to talk to you"

"Ok, spill it kid"

"Uh--no, like alone"

Derek furrowed his brows, "Ok", they took seats away from everyone else.

"Ok, so remember that girl you were asking me about a while ago? Well, I was just on the phone with her and I uh--did something really really stupid and I don't know how to fix it--"

"Kid, slow down. Let's start simple, what's her name?"

"Atticus, but she has like a million different nicknames and I just--oh my god I'm such an idiot. Shit"

"Alright, what happened with Atticus?"

"I was talking to her and then she had to go because she's at work, so she said bye. And I said, 'bye. love you.' just like that, 'bye. love you.'"

"And why is that a bad thing?"

'"The thing about Attici, is that she had a pretty big problem with commitment. I've only known her for three months and we spent a lot of that time just being friends, and then I kissed her and everything changed--but it stayed the same? If that makes sense. I just told the only girl that has ever been interested in me that  I love her on accident, basically, I blew whatever chance I had with her."

"Kid, I think you're being a little dramatic", Morgan chuckled.

"Hey, we were all gonna head over to that diner on 5th when we land, you guys in?", JJ asked and Reid almost choked on his water, "You ok, Spencer?"

"Huh? Yeah, mhm, yup I--I'm great"

"Ok..?"

"Morgan, that's where she works"

"What?"

"The diner on 5th, that's where Atticus works", Spencer started to panic.

"Ok, why is that a problem again?"

"Because--no one else can know. I didn't even want you to know--how does this just keep getting worse?"

"Reid, relax. I won't tell anyone"

"Promise?"

"Yes, I promise"

"Thank you"

The bell hanging above the front door rang, signifying that someone had just entered the diner. Atti walked past with a tray in each hand, "Hi, I'll--", she paused as she made eye contact with Spencer, "be with you guys in a second. Feel free to sit anywhere that's available", she finished as she laughed a little. She knew that who she had just seen was the rest of Spencer's team based on what he had told her about them.

They sat in a booth in what just so happened to be Atticus' section, of course. Reid had excused himself to 'use the bathroom' and signified to Atti to meet him over there as he breezed past her.

"Ya know, this isn't exactly what I was thinking when you said you would pick me up"

"I know"

"Why the fuck are you freaking out?"

"Because! They don't know anything about you"

"Well, that's good right?"

"No!"

"Why?"

"They're all profilers. They know that I've been acting weird and nervous and if they see me acting the same way around you, they'll connect the dots eventually. And I just--"

"There's a really simple solution to this dumb ass problem. Don't be weird and nervous dummy", she punched him in the arm playfully as she laughed.

"I don't know if I can do that"

"What the fuck, why? It's just me"

"That's exactly why, because it's you."

"Spencer, there's nothing special about me"

"Everything is special about you"

"Ok that was incredibly cute", she smiled, "but that's not what I meant. I meant, that when you go back out there, I'm just another waitress. We don't know each other at all. And if you slip, then I'm just some girl who lives in the same building as you, got it?"

"Yeah. I think, I hope"

"Ok, well you got it. Just be...normal--or as normal as you can be", she laughed and patted him on the shoulder as she walked away.

Spencer sat back down with his team, his phone buzzed.

Derek: Is that her?

Spencer: Who?

Derek: The waitress, is that Atticus?

Spencer: Oh, yeah.

Derek: I always knew you liked bad girls lol

Spencer: This is why I didn't want anyone to know.

He looked up from his phone and rolled his eyes at Morgan, who laughed in return. Atticus walked up to their table, her customer service smile plastered across her face, "Sorry for the wait. My name's Atticus, what can I get started for you guys?", she wrote down their orders and walked around all her other tables. Spencer couldn't help but glance at her every time she walked past.

"Reid, do you like her?", Emily teased.

"What? No."

"He thinks she's pretty", JJ and Garcia joined in.

"Wha--I never said that. I do not"

"How do you even know who we're talking about then?"

"I don--", he tried to finish his sentence but he just kept stuttering as a huge blush spread across his face. Atticus was standing behind the counter, refilling coffee cups. 'He totally just blew it', she thought as she noticed that Spencer had become a bright red, stuttering mess.

"Thanks, doll face", Morgan said as she finished passing out plates.

"Well aren't you a sweetheart?", Atti smiled and Spencer looked at her, "Don't worry, I think you're real cute too", she squeezed his shoulder lightly as she walked away. His eyes widened and he blushed, even more, this time as the rest of his team giggled.

"Looks like boy genius might actually have a shot", the girls laughed. He shook his head in annoyance, 'If only they knew', he thought.
