Strangely enough, Hoseok loved the snow.

Snow and holidays always came hand in hand, a feat that had always brought annoyance on Hoseok, who only cared about the crystalline, pristine and white snowflakes that fell from the sky unto Earth.

It was something Yoongi, and he had in common, one that brought them together. When Hoseok asked Yoongi to marry him, he had made sure to ask on the winter season's first snow. When they had begun planning for their wedding, they had intended to settle for a winter wonderland of sorts, but because Yoongi had insisted that their honeymoon also start the first winter of the season, they found themselves scheduling their wedding in early November.

Of course, it never came to be.

It was a mistake on Hoseok's part to ever revolve someone he loved, someone susceptible to death, to such an important season. No matter what, every time that winter came in all its white, delicate, luminescent glory, it always held an underlying, detrimental tone behind it. But how could Hoseok know that something that had still offered him solace would become intertwined with someone just as special and that with his disappearance, so would all his joy?

Still, Hoseok found it outlandish that he always yearned to be around snow as much as he could.

Perhaps it was because the snow was the only real thing that his mind could connect to Yoongi. From snowmen building to snowball fights to snowman angels, the list had been endless for them. If Hoseok listened hard enough, he could hear Yoongi's giggles ripple through the air every time the snow fell, an absinthian reminder of who he lost.

Maybe Jimin was right.

Hoseok, ever since Yoongi's death, hadn't stepped foot outside his home during snow days willingly. If he had to, he would— for work in most cases, but Hoseok had never gone outside to fully enjoy what he used to find so enticing, so irresistible. The barrier Hoseok had put between himself, and all he enjoyed was all because everything he did reminded him of Yoongi. Relying solely on Yoongi, having him being taken away just as easily had fucked up with Hoseok more than he could ever let on.

In a way, Hoseok felt like a menace to himself and everyone else around him.

Yesterday's trip to the grocery store had only proved what Hoseok had already been thinking.

Despite it being Jimin's idea to go grocery shopping, Hoseok had found himself enjoying spending time with Jimin. It was refreshing, and for a second, Hoseok felt like he was leading an everyday life, like he was okay, like he didn't have that hollow feeling embedded in his heart. Hoseok had forgotten how fun it had been to hang out with Jimin and how much Hoseok had willingly forced Jimin away, even though all that Jimin was doing was to help him get over Yoongi.

So far, Hoseok had rejected every opportunity.

"Jimin."

The boy looked up in surprise at Hoseok, closing the book he was reading. A look of concern etched across Jimin's face as Hoseok leaned against the hallway wall, looking at him with indecipherable eyes.

"Yes, Hoseok?"

Hoseok stuffed his hands in his pockets. "I'm sorry about yesterday."

Jimin gave Hoseok a tight smile. "It's not your fault that the lady mistook us for a couple."

Though we could have been.

"I know," Hoseok paused for a moment. "I felt like I took it out on you. I was taken aback by the mistake, and then I lashed it out at you. I shouldn't have."

"It's perfectly normal for you to react that way," Jimin reassured. "You're still mourning. I can't stop you from doing so. You still haven't moved on, so it doesn't faze me that you reacted that way. I was hoping that going outside for once might have brought you peace, even for a few moments."
