For the first time in forever, Hoseok was the first one up.

Jimin rubbed his eyes as he let out a yawn, stretching a bit before walking into the living room, leading to the kitchen. His eyebrows furrowed at the smell of food being cooked, senses immediately coming alert as he heard someone cursing incoherently.

"Hoseok?"

Hoseok turned to the sound of Jimin's sleepy voice, giving Jimin a smile of embarrassment. His eyes glanced at the mess he had managed to make while trying to make food, and he looked back at Jimin.

"Fun times, right?"

Jimin shook his head, confused. "What are you doing?"

"I was trying to make breakfast, and it's kind of working out," Hoseok said, laughing nervously. Jimin raised an eyebrow.

"Define working out." Jimin scoffed, though not unkindly. He made his way to the kitchen, his eyes widening slightly at the mess Hoseok was currently stirring in the kitchen. "Were you trying to make some french toast?"

"M-maybe." Hoseok scratched the back of his head, muttering sheepishly. Jimin only laughed, looking at the disarray of ingredients laid out clumsily on the counters. "Okay, look, what's important is that I tried making breakfast for us, okay? It's the thought that counts."

A smile blossomed on Jimin's lips. "You were trying to make breakfast for us?"

A tinge of pink spread across Hoseok's cheeks, and he looked down, only causing Jimin to smile wider. Hoseok cleared his throat awkwardly, making it a point to look as far away from Jimin as he possibly could. Jimin was still awestruck, his insides warming in excitement, heart stirring with hope at the insane progress Hoseok had made these past couple of days.

"You woke up early to make breakfast for us?" Jimin's eyes began to sparkle. "For me?"

"Man, if you're going to be rubbing it in my face that I tried doing something nice, I'm going to walk back to my room and hibernate the rest of the holidays," Hoseok grumbled, looking even more embarrassed than before. "Can't do anything nice in this house without being questioned, damn."

"No, no, Hoseok, I'm just shocked that you woke up early to make something for the both of us," Jimin laughed, "I'm touched, that's all. Usually, I'm the one making the food. You don't wake up early. What changed?"

Hoseok pressed his lips together. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, mumbling something quickly, too fast for Jimin to understand. Noticing Jimin's confused expression, Hoseok tried once again, oddly feeling too flushed to say what he wanted to communicate properly. It's not that Jimin's presence disconcerted him, but it was what Hoseok wanted to say that had him a mess. There was no way to be able to say something without it sounding a tiny bit romantic.

"Maybe we could go out today." Hoseok managed to say, looking up slightly at Jimin. "Again. Get some food or something because I tried and failed."

Jimin beamed, feeling almost as if he could cry. "Really, Hoseok? You want to go out?"

"You're going to make me regret this, never mind."

Jimin quickly grabbed Hoseok's hands, the smile never leaving his face. "No, no, this is great! I'm just surprised, that's all."

Hoseok grimaced, though he didn't pull his arms away from Jimin's hold. He knew that Jimin would be more than ecstatic with the development, seeing as he was now pushing himself to do things outside except wallow in his room and watch Netflix shows. It was a refresher for Jimin, and it made sense that he was beyond excited because of it.
