"Hey, Jimin, I heard from Hoseok that you love to cook."
Jimin looked up from the living room, arching an eyebrow at Yoongi's statement. He nodded slowly, wondering what exactly Yoongi was trying to get at. At the nod, Yoongi smiled, pulling out a cake mix— more specifically, the red velvet mix that Hoseok and Jimin had playfully fought over a week ago.
"I hope that pertains to baking as well."
"It does," Jimin said, standing up from where he was sitting. "Did you want to make a cake?"
Yoongi shrugged. "I never had the chance to...learn my baking expertise. I figured I'd do it not. Time is of the essence, right? While Hoseok's out shopping, I thought it would be the perfect time to try."
Jimin's expression turned to one of amusement. "Did you not want Hoseok here while you're trying to make a cake?"
"For one, I'll get distracted," Yoongi scrunched his nose. "Two, I kind of wanted it to be a surprise for him. I remember telling him years ago that one day I'd bake him a cake. I would have done it for our first anniversary. Guess things sometimes don't work out, huh?"
"Yeah," Jimin answered, feeling his heart shatter at the words. Even with Yoongi saying it so nonchalantly, Jimin could see the lingering sadness on Yoongi's expression, could hear the underlying tone masked over by optimism. It made sense that Yoongi would be trying to clear what he could in such short amounts of time.
While Yoongi would never be able to grow old with Hoseok, at least, Yoongi could leave behind his imprint and do as much as he had promised so long ago as possible. If Jimin were being honest, knowing that Yoongi didn't have time made him feel sick. While Jimin didn't know if Hoseok would go with Yoongi or stay with him, at least Hoseok had a choice about what to do with his life.
Once the clock struck twelve am on New Years', Yoongi would disappear— whether he wanted to or not.
"I'm sure we have some ingredients around," Jimin smiled, walking towards the kitchen. "Let me help you. It isn't my first time making a cake."
Yoongi let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Jimin. You're such a sweetheart."
Jimin couldn't help but smile at the words. As he grabbed the proper materials and ingredients to make the cake, Jimin couldn't help but think.
Yet the person I need to see that can't stop seeing past your existence.

Hoseok was meant to go shopping, which he did so.
He'd had to buy pillows, extra sheets, and comforters for Taehyung and Jungkook, who were on their way back from visiting Taehyung's family. Not to mention, Seokjin and Namjoon were heading their way as well, meaning that whenever they came, they'd head straight towards Hoseok and Jimin's home.
It had been a couple of hours since Hoseok had left Jimin and Yoongi on their own back at home.
That was Hoseok's first mistake.
Without any of them to accompany him on such mundane tasks, Hoseok was left with his thoughts, thoughts that he'd wanted to shove down the deepest parts of his mind. Unfortunately, being alone was a harbor for unwanted thoughts, so Hoseok sat in his car in the store parking lot, contemplating about his life.
Had Hoseok been asked a week ago what he wanted the most, he would have said to be with Yoongi. In some ways, that still rang true. He wanted to be with Yoongi. He was happy with Yoongi; Hoseok knew it, else he wouldn't be proudly wearing their wedding rings. But, a week had suddenly turned his life upside down, and now he didn't know what to think.
