160
We all loaded into the rental car Liam got. All the luggage put in the back.
Niall drove us to casualty (ER) at the private hospital.
Liam and I tried multiple ways to wake Jasmine up.
Louis had already fallen back asleep.
Niall stopped at the doors letting Liam and I out, Jasmine still asleep in my arms.
I rushed into the casualty, looking for Mr. Ross.
Liam and I looked around until I saw a familiar light blue set of scrubs coming our way with a stretcher, Mr. Ross.
I walked towards Mr. Ross and the stretcher he was pushing.
"I thought you would want to give your arms a rest." Mr. Ross said as I laid Jasmine in the bed.
"So who is this?" He asked as we made our way towards radiology, and went up in the lift.
"This is Dr.- I mean, Mrs. Jasmine Korasick, Director of Sports Medicine at AHI. I forgot about the pronouns in London."
"You've been in the states too long, mate." Mr. Ross said as our lift got to the right floor, revealing the radiology floor.
"You need an MRI?"
"Yes."
We went to the left.
I looked down at Jasmine who was still out like a light.
"Do you think she'll stay asleep or should we sedate her?" Mr. Ross asked looking from me to Liam, knowing Liam was my head anesthesiologist for AHI.
I honestly didn't know what to do, but Liam should have a suggestion.
"Maybe we should give her a small sedative just for the scan, and then let her wake up on her own. We could try waking her up again, and if she doesn't wake, then I can sedate her, I just need to know her poundage." Liam suggested, looking at me.
"I'll look up her chart." I said, knowing the system was on my phone and I could look up her records.
I multitask by pushing the stretcher and looking up her records on my phone.
"Her records says she's 160."
Liam shook Jasmine multiple times and tried calling out her name. Nothing was waking her up.
"I guess it's a sedative, then."
This is the second time Jasmine has had to be sedated while she was unconscious or unable to wake.
We followed Mr. Ross's path, since the hospital has changed a little since we've been here.
He went into a room that was next to the machines.
"These are our sedation rooms. Liam, anything an anesthesiologist would need for sedation would be in here. So needles, IVs, propofol, anything." Mr. Ross said as we pulled her stretcher to a stop.
Liam looked around the room, grabbing stuff from different cabinets.
"You said she was 160, right?" Liam asked one last time as he put a needle in a vial.
I confirmed that he was right and he walked over to Jasmine, moving the sleeve of her silky soft shirt.
When the needle plunged into the skin at her shoulder, Jasmine had an odd facial expression. She wasn't awake, but her face scrunched up but then relaxed as Liam disposed of the needle.
Mr. Ross grabbed a stethoscope and handed it to Liam, who made sure Jasmine was still breathing and still had a strong heart beat.
"We're going to have to monitor her as soon as she's out of the scan."
Liam and a nurse pushed her stretcher into the room with the MRI.
I was going to help, but Mr. Ross stopped me and led me towards the computer room.
"You've seemed to grow fond of this girl."
"Well she's my patient."
"You know what I mean, mate."
As soon as Liam and the nurse got her into the machine, Liam came and joined us in the computer room.
Mr. Ross's pager went off. Huffing, he looked down at it and rolled his eyes.
"I'll be back, guys. Keep me updated. I'll tell my assistant to start your privileges a day early." He said as he walked off, leaving just Liam, myself, and the radiologist.
"As soon as pictures come up, I want her admitted and monitored." I said to Liam who agreed with me, since he wanted to make sure her anesthesia would wear off.
As soon as the first images came up, all three of us were surrounding the computer.
Her brain swelled a little bit. I knew it was going to happen. The swelling should go away in a few days.
"She's definitely staying overnight."
After we got all the images, a nurse helped transfer her into a room where she could be admitted and we were given privileges.
Liam hooked her up to every possible machine. Electrodes, blood pressure, heart rate, pulse meter, everything. He just said he wanted to monitor her vitals while she was sedated.
I started an IV, giving her fluids to help her brain stop swelling, as well as putting an oxygen mask on her face.
"And now we wait." I say to Liam as we took seats on either side of her.
I couldn't help but think about everything that has happened to Jasmine since she's been hit by the players at the football game.
She still has a cast, her stitches from both surgeries I did, an IV in another part of her arm since the spot from two days ago was already bruising, and braces, in which she has an appointment with Niall in a few days.
The poor girl can't seem to catch a break.
