Sage practically moped the entire Potions class. She seriously dreaded detention with Malfoy. She only had a month in detention with him, or shorter depending on if the two learned to get along. But Sage knew for a fact that they would never get along. She knew she could be able to just tolerate him but the question was, how long can she tolerate him before she just explodes?

Once Potions ended, the two students didn't bother to move from their seats.

As the rest of their classmates left, Professor Slughorn, closed the classroom door and sat in his desk chair. "Okay Miss Arden, Mr. Malfoy, you both know the drill. Work on any homework, or anything as you wish. You have one hour."

Sage decided to do her homework, as did Malfoy.

She managed to finish her DADA and transfiguration homework. However she had trouble with her herbology homework. Surely she wouldn't ask Malfoy, so she decided to try her best.

After a few minutes of trying to understand, she let out a rather loud sigh which made Malfoy look up. "Having trouble there?" He laughed.

"Sod off Malfoy" She said aggravated, not bothering to take her eyes off of her parchment.

"Gladly" He retorted. Yet he found himself looking at her homework.

"Oh it's a good thing I'm also top student in Herbology." He chuckled as he leaned back in his seat.

"Nosy much Malfoy?" Sage asked, already annoyed with his badgering.

"Oh c'mon. All you have to do is ask. I'll probably say no, but it doesn't hurt to ask." Draco added.

"Look Malfoy, I don't need your help and I wouldn't ask you for help no matter how desperate I am. And you're honestly so vile and full of yourself, I can't handle it. So please for Merlins sake just keep to yourself." Sage blurted loudly enough for Professor Slughorn to hear, as she slouched in her seat from pure annoyance and stress.

"Miss Arden, please come to my desk" he simply stated, making Sage groan and Draco chuckle.

"Ooooh" he said lowly

Only if Sage could just punch that git but it's unladylike of her and she wouldn't want to risk even more detention. So she kept herself composed and got out of her seat and walked up to Professor Slughorn's desk. "Yes professor?" She asked innocently, as if she didn't just snap at Draco.

"What was the reason for your outburst?" He asked her, not even looking up from his book.

"Well professor, Malfoy and I are always going to bicker and like we have told you before, there is no way we will see eye to eye. These detentions definitely aren't helping our situation, it only makes us hate each other more." Sage answered, looking down at her feet nervously.

"Why is it such an issue for the two of you to sit next to each other and ignore one another?" He now asked, with his eyes darting up to the nervous witch.

"We do try to ignore each other but we can't even handle to hear each other breathe. It's quite impossible, for example, he will notice something about me and have to tease me." Sage gushed.

She's already had enough of Malfoy and having to explain the situation to Professor Slughorn. Why can't he just understand that they will always be enemies? Why does he have to butt in and try to get the two students to get along? It's never going to work!

"Ah I do understand but having the two of you get along is crucial. I don't need any students despising one another. You may go back to your seat." He stated, not even bothering to see any of the points Sage had made.

"Now you two will do whatever it takes to get along. Sort your issues out, come to a proposition. I trust you two are old and mature enough to do so." He added, shooing Sage back to her desk.

Sage walked back towards her desk, her chair had been pulled out from under the desk with Malfoys foot near one of the legs. However, she hadn't noticed, due to her not looking anywhere in his direction. As she stood in front of the chair to sit down, Malfoy had yanked her seat making Sage fall to the floor.

"You fucking arse" she yelled as she picked herself up from the floor and sitting properly into her seat.

"Mr Malfoy!" Slughorn blurted loudly, waiting for Draco to make eye contact with him. "You will now stay 30 minutes extra and please apologize to Miss Arden. Now."

For the two students to be top of their class, they sure didn't behave like it.

Sage wished she could do anything to get back at Malfoy but nothing she could do would be enough. Her words did nothing to him. Didn't affect him. He's cruel and heartless.

Twenty minutes had remained until detention ended, for Sage. As for Draco, fifty minutes.

"I really don't mind the thirty minutes extra. As long as you're not around." Draco murmured, lowly enough that Slughorn wouldn't hear.

"Glad to hear" Sage whispered as she sighed. "Why are you even talking to me?" She whispered again, sounding quite frustrated.

"Who said I was talking to you? I could've just been talking to myself" He answered, as he picked his quill up to resume his homework.

"Well you said you're when you referred to me, therefore you were talking to me." She emphasized, as she was still doing her homework.

"Do you always have to be such a smart arse? It's bloody annoying, couldn't you have just shut up?" He snapped at her as he dropped his quill from being worked up.

"You're the one who opened your annoying mouth first." She smirked, not giving him the satisfaction that he would've gotten under her skin.
