Simone's P.O.V.

Sunday had passed by in a blur, with me finishing assignments to stay ahead, all day. Also, what happened on Saturday hadn't excited me too much to go to Chase's parties again.
I kept my head on Ms. Halsen's words.

"I want 24 assignments on my desk by tomorrow, yes?" Ms. Halsen said.

We murmured yeses, and the lunch bell rang.

"Alright. You may go now."
I stood up with Nora and Julie, heading out of the class, bidding hasta la vistas to the English teacher.

We walked to the lockers to pile our stuff in, while Nora and Julie talked about some new rock band. I zoned out, placing my books inside the locker, and getting my coat out. Amber and Jade came from their Spanish classes, talking about the amphisbaena, of course. Christ.
We walked to the large cafeteria, while I was forced to listen to excerpts of my friend's conversations. They were used to my zoning out and indifference to most of whatever they said, yet they still stuck to me. I wouldn't say I wasn't grateful.
Everyone sat at a table, except me, to go to the counter.

I took out my wallet to order a pair of veggie melt club sandwich and a glass of frappe, too- after a long time.

"A cheesy garlic baguette for all of us too!" Jade said.

"And a caramel macchiato!" Julie cried.

"Along with a pair of English buns for me!" Nora jeered.

"A simple coffee with a mousse here will do!" Amber exclaimed.

I widened my eyes, blinking a few times. "Right, of course. I'm not giving a free feast here. Gimme money. And stop screaming like cats, we're in the cafeteria." I said, smirking.

They groaned, and I rolled my eyes. Dumping their money on the table, they went back to chattering about bilge. I made my way to the counter, where a bunch of people already stood.

An arm snaked around my shoulder. I turned to see Asher, a smile on his face.

"Hey amigo." I muttered affably.

"Hola amigo hambriento. Tus amigos te están haciendo pasar un mal rato?"

I widened my eyes. "I can assure you I haven't taken Spanish, unfortunately. Do you mind speaking in English?"

Ash chuckled heartily. "Your friends giving you a hard time? I saw you from my table."

I smirked. "Nah. I can't afford to make them pause their important talk."

He smiled. "Well, I've a question."

I raised an eyebrow questioningly, tilting my head at him.

"What do you think of Lucas?"

"Lucas? The redhead friend of yours?"

"Yup."

"Well... he's nice and funny...?"

"And?"

"And? Uh, goofy and thoughtful, kinda brusque, though."

"And? Not handsome?"

"Oh-kay, why're you asking me for an opinion?"

"Is he? handsome?"

I crossed my arms. "I'll tell you if you answer me too."

Ash sighed. "Really? Fine."

"Uh, well I would say he's nice-ish looking. Pretty tall too, with a defined jaw... how does it matter?"

"Fine. I think he has a crush on me. Actually, it's a mutual-crushing."

I raised an eyebrow and let out a chuckle, seeing the light peach that coated his cheeks. "You could've just told me that. Why, you both are a good pair, that is, if he's into you, and you, him."
