There it was in all its glory. The location they'd toiled to get to ever since the day they left camp.
Building 63.
Seokjin could spot the large, sky end gates anywhere and in the distance, it slowly became a lot more clearer. The place he'd spent majority of his holidays with his father, learning about agriculture that he loved so much. A subconscious smile graced his face.
He looked to the sleeping occupants of the car and reached his hands over, eyes still on the road, to shake Hoseok awake so he could reciprocate to the rest of the group. By the time everyone was up, Seokjin said the words they'd all been itching to hear since the beginning.
"We're here!"
At this, several eyes widened and spluttered indiscernible words but amidst the chaos, Namjoon's voice stood firm as he spoke with all the grogginess of sleep.
"Where?"
In that moment, Seokjin realised just how refreshing it was to relay good news as he smiled brightly, eyes on the prize, so to say, in the distance. He looked back for a split second and in a booming voice declared.
"Welcome to Building 63,"
The hollers that filled the car completely washed away any previous sorrow as they all wept for joy, Seokjin focusing on getting to the building in the distance that got closer as every roll of the car.
It was nostalgic to think of just how far they'd come, what they'd gained and what they'd lost. When he began this journey, Seokjin's earnest prayer was for his brother to make it out alive; he couldn't find it in him to car for himself or the rest of the group - all he wanted was for Taehyung to get there safely.
But now, looking back on those thoughts, he felt an overwhelming sense of shame; shame for selfishness and shame for being metaphorically blind. These people were his all now and he couldn't fathom how he could care less for their safety before because it was all he thought about now.
Throughout it all, a stance still remained; it didn't matter if he didn't make it to Building 63, as long as the rest of them did, it would be okay.
Honestly, he hadn't even imagined he'd make it in the first place. He'd dubbed himself most likely to die in a zombie apocalypse ( cut, paste and stamped it in the yearbook for all to see - if he did have a yearbook, after all he hadn't even made it to the first half of senior year before there was no senior year) and it was quite surprising to see himself still up and running almost a month into survival. What do you know?
"I can't believe we did it! We're here!" Jungkook shouted, thankfully his voice was muffled by the rolled up windows.
"I lowkey thought I would be dead by now," Cha Won admitted the grim confession with and oxymoronic laugh, rivalling his words.
"I can't wait to have a warm bed under my back - hopefully," Jimin muttered to himself, biting his lip ( a habit of his).
"You will, I promise!" Seokjin spoke carelessly, excitement lingering in his tone as they finally reached their destination.
They were a good three or four feet away from the gates, thus they good examine the exterior a bit clearly. It was large, huge or whatever words could be used to describe the magnitude it boasted of in size and width. Trippe that and even then, it would be an understatement. They were only outside and Jungkook could easily liken it to a football field.
"So what do we do? Do we knock on the gate?" Namjoon asked tentatively, knowing that no one really wanted to leave the car.
"Uh, I guess but will they even hear us? I mean, this place is huge," Yoongi spoke for the first time, eyeing up the building in front of him.
