It has been three years since Dazai took Atsushi out on a first date, a date that had them falling in love with each other all over again. Now that Dazai thinks about it he doesn't think either of them thanked their friends for pushing them to go on a date to begin with. He wouldn't be with his kitten now if it weren't for them. Speaking of his kitten he still had to pick up his present and arrange some last minute things before the day came. As he walked down the street he was looking ahead with a smile so fond that the slug would definitely make fun of him.
He called his close friend, Odasaku to make sure that everything was ready for Christmas Eve. His friend reassured him and told him to calm down as there was no way Atsushi would say no to Dazai. Hearing that calmed the brunette a little but not much as this was a huge step in his and Atsushi's relationship. All he could think about was if Atsushi said yes they would be spending the rest of their lives together as husbands. He just couldn't wait to pick up the ring. He could have had it sooner but he wanted to do something special so he had it engraved with his and Atsushi's initials. He entered the jewelry shop after walking for about fifteen minutes. After he picked up the ring he dropped it off at Ango's house so he couldn't misplace it by accident. Saying goodbye to his friend he finally headed home. Where he was greeted by the sight of his boyfriend lounging in one of Dazai's sweatshirts. Let's just say that Atsushi couldn't walk the next day as he knew how his boyfriend would react to seeing him in his clothing.
Christmas Eve
Brown eyes fluttered open as a shrilling alarm rang out in the room. He silently groaned as he quickly turned off his phone hoping his love wasn't awoken by it. Thankfully Atsushi stayed asleep as Dazai stared at him. He seriously didn't know how he became so lucky as to have this man beside him. The bandage wearing male glanced at the clock knowing he needed to start getting ready if he wanted everything ready by tonight. He gently caressed his kitten's face placing a gentle loving kiss on his forehead and slowly trailing down to his lips. The kiss he placed on his lips lingered for a few moments as he was extremely reluctant to leave. He hated that he had to leave before Atsushi woke as he knew his sunshine would be upset with him not being there. Hopefully he would understand though when he finds out why. Getting up he got dressed and placed a note on his pillow before rushing out the door with his phone to his ear.
He was bouncing around helping his friends set everything up. He didn't want all the responsibilities to fall on them as this was his plan/idea. He had Odasaku set up a sleigh ride that would take them around the city and end where they first met. Dazai also had Chuuya and Ango set up fairy lights in the tree at the park with a table in the middle of the cobble stoned pathway. Thankfully Chuuya had prepared Atsushi's favorite food in advance since Dazai couldn't even cook a piece of toast to save his life. After everything was ready he texted Atsushi that he would be home soon. He casually suggested that the younger male should wear his expensive grey cashmere sweater with the fuzzy black leggings. About an hour later Dazai picked his kitten up from home and set out to the first activity he planned. Linking their hands together the taller male pulled the other closer placing a kiss on to the top of his head.
"I'm sorry I wasn't home this morning when you woke up." He looked at the ground with guilt in his eyes. Atsushi looked up at his boyfriend's remorseful eyes with a soft look. He let a small smile light up his face. He knew that his boyfriend wouldn't have done it unless there was something important he needed to do.
God he loved this man so much it sometimes hurt and scared him as Atsushi was his world. He had always feared that the younger male would leave him or that something unspeakable would happen to him. Thankfully, nothing like that had transpired. The younger male always stuck by him regardless of his nightmares, his self harm relapses, his annoying antics. Atsushi even stuck by him when he pushed everyone away with hurtful words. So he made an agreement with himself about two years ago. A promise that he will never leave Atsushi's side even when the younger male didn't feel he was worthy of love. Dazai found that after he made that pact he had slowly stopped talking about suicide, slowly stopped self harming, and slowly let love in.
