Ever since Atsushi could remember he has always been alone on Christmas as he was an orphan who was adopted by parents that were never there. His parents were always traveling around the world, never home. Granted they did pay for his schooling and for his living expenses. For that Atsushi was grateful. One day he had gone out on a walk to the park and that was when he met his best friend Osamu Dazai. Atsushi had saved Dazai from drowning in a pond. They stuck by each other's sides after they found out they went to the same high school. Atsushi then spent the holidays with Dazai. Though over the years the silver haired male fell in love with his best friend. All his friends told him that he should confess as they thought his feelings were returned. Atsushi didn't think so as why would Dazai be in love with an average male.
As they entered college they both got lucky when they found out they would be rooming together. Dazai took great joy in this fact as it means he could spend more time with the person that understood him most. Atsushi knew more about him than even Odasaku and Ango. The taller male had opened up to the younger one more as Dazai could see himself in Atsushi. The closer he got to Atsushi the more he fell in love and this year he was finally going to confess. His friends Odasaku and Ango had been pushing him to tell Atsushi since he told them. He had the whole thing planned out now he just had to wait until Christmas Day. Damn his father.
Since Atsushi's parents were gone for the holidays he was stuck staying at the university's dorm for Christmas. He asked his friends if he could spend it with them since he didn't want to be alone but all of them said they were going back home. He sighed as sat in the cafe that was across from the school. He was waiting for Dazai to join him as today was the day they normally hung out together after their classes. Lost in his thoughts he didn't notice the 20 year old brunette sit across from him. Dazai smiled playfully as he noticed his friend hadn't realized the older man was seated in front of him. He could tell his friend was deep in thought. He saw the frown on the younger man's face. Well he just needed to change that only a smile belonged on that beautiful face.
"Atsushi-kun~ How dare you ignore your best friend in the whole wide world!!~" The brunette sang as he clutched his chest in mock hurt. He could see Atsushi jump as he looked up into the man's chocolate orbs.
"I don't know about the whole wide world part Dazai." Atsushi quickly quipped back watching as the older man started to pout.
"Ah my heart! How could you hurt me so Atsu?~" He pretended as if he were to faint from the hurt which made his smaller friend giggle. He smiled when he heard the soft laughter. That's better, his Atsushi should always be laughing and smiling.
"Now that you are feeling better. Wanna tell me what had you so down?" Dazai questioned as he watched Atsushi's face closely. He already had a suspicion that it was about Christmas as he had heard all of their friends were busy.
"Ah it looks like I will be spending Christmas alone. Unless you are staying here for Christmas Dazai?" Atsushi looked at him with hopeful eyes which he felt his chest clench as he did have to go back home. His father told him he had to come home Christmas Eve for a business meeting he was having.
"Ah actually. My father called and wanted me to come home." Dazai could feel the disappointment and hurt before seeing it in those gorgeous sunset eyes. Atsushi looked down at the table as he felt he was about to cry. So he was going to be all alone on Christmas.
"I'm sorry Tiger." He resorted to using the nickname he gave Atsushi in high school. He had found out the younger male was obsessed with white tigers and to tease him started to call him tiger or kitten. Dazai got up moving to sit next to his best friend. Pulling him into a tight hug as he felt like shit. He promised to himself that he would only make Atsushi smile but failed. He could feel the younger man pull away.
