"You'll be ok, I promise."

My mom and I was in the car staring up at the huge brown building- young offenders Institution.

I didn't want to go in that place, it didn't even look friendly- not in the slightest. I guess they wanted to say they don't care about our comforts.

"Are you sure this isn't jail?" I asked looking to mom.

She looked out my side of the window staring at the huge building.

"Well I'm sure it's better than jail, besides they are dealing with kids after all." She nodded her head, parking the car in a safe place.

I sighed- so not looking forward to this.

"Aren't you coming?" I didn't realize she was already out of the car with one of my luggage. I dishearteningly left the car picking up the other luggage.

As we walked to the door, I felt totally uneasy. My anxiety started to kick in and I became nervous and restless.

What if in here I was worst- more boredom, more of a loner, lost, depressed-

"Anna, you alright?" My mom asked, I didn't even realize we were already standing at the front desk. I cleared my head of the those thoughts.

This lady with big rimmed glassed stared at me- did I mention that I do not like when someone's staring at me- it makes me uneasy.

I cleared my throat returning to my mother's eyes. "We're you asking me something?"

"Actually, I was giving you this, I took a look at it." I look the paper from her hand, it was basically everything I needed to know about the school along with my schedule and room number.

"We have someone to escort you to your room." Said the lady with the big rimmed glasses.

In an instant a boy was walking up to us.

"Good morning," he said nodding to my mother and I. " Im Bobby Brian and I'll be escorting you to your room, after which you'll be escorted to your first class session."

There wasn't an elevator so we had to take the stairs- of course there wasn't an elevator.

A few minutes later we were in my dorm room.

"Trix, what are doing here, aren't you suppose to be in class." Bobby stated to a girl laying down on the bed right side of the room in her tunic.

Her eyes snapped to us, hurriedly getting up off the bed. She took up a note book and a pen off her desk, cast us a one glance and rushed past us out the door.

"Aren't you gonna say hello to your new roommate?" Bobby asked raising a eyebrow.

"Hi." She said, turning to me with a frown on her face. And then of course she dashed away.

I raised my eyebrows- amazed.
That was kinda weird.

A sigh came from Bobby, " She's like that to everyone, but once you get to know her she's a sweetheart."

I raised my eyebrows once more-amazed.

Mother and I put down my luggage near my bed leaving it for later.

After a little conversation, mother and I said our goodbyes most reluctantly.

And now I was standing nervously outside the door of my first class. Bobby gestured for me to step inside and I did feeling cautious.

The teacher introduced me to the class, told me to take a empty seat at the back.

As I sat down I noticed a guy sitting there just staring at me creepily. I looked to my other side seeing a familiar fluff of hair.

"Trix, please raise your head and pay attention." The teacher said, I of course was right this girl is my roommate.

She raised her head and sat up lazily, looking away from the teacher's annoyed gazed. She saw me sitting beside her, seeming shocked, we held gazes.

Too much of a competition to look away, so I didn't, though Trix looked away clearing her throat as she looked to the board trying to possibly grasp an aspect of the lesson.

I sat there wondering how I was gonna make a conversation with this girl since she seemed to not conversate with people.

This class was basically about morals- right and wrongs. My action was for the greater good- my mother's life.

I looked around the class, looking at the faces of my classmates. They all seem to look bored or tired, any one of the two.

The same guy was staring at me. I stared back looking at his features- lean body, tall and cute with a dark skin complexion and of course his hair was cut short.

He looked away paying attention back to the teacher whose name I didn't even hear once.

The cafeteria was packed but it was very quiet - I've never heard of a quiet cafeteria. Was the silence a form of punishment?

"Did you have to come over this table?"

I set my food down on the table Trix was sitting at.

"I didn't think you'd actually speak to me."

"I wasn't."

"Whats the deal with this place anyways, why is everyone so quiet?"

Her hands went down on the table as she whispered, "They say that being silent is a form of obedience and if we do disobey them, they take out the big guns."

"What's the big guns." I asked also whispering.

"That's when they actually treat us like prisoners."

Not a jail huh.

After classes ended we were assigned to clean each other's dorms under observation.

It wasn't hard since it was cleaned anyway, I wonder if we have to clean after classes everyday.

I was finally in bed after a shower and a long boring day.

I looked to my side seeing my roommate with her back turned to me as she listened to music. I sighed- I wasn't ready to go to sleep yet.

"Hey," I called sitting at the side of my bed, "hey, you sleeping?"

"What do you want?" Trix snapped.

I perked up glad she wasn't sleeping."Would you mind if I listened too?"

"What?" She asked sitting up taking out the ear phones.

"What kind of music do you listen to?'

"Rap, why?"

"Oh I just wanted to hear the kind of music you listen."

"Oh."

I watched as she took out her ear phones and pressed play.

My eyes widen as music started playing way too loud, she hurriedly turned down the music to avoid us getting into trouble.

I laughed as the obnoxious rap music started to settle in.

"This is the kind of music you listen to?" I was amazed at the hurt look on her face.

"These are very awesome songs." She said, a gentle smile framing her face while she switched to a less obnoxious rap.

"You know you should smile more, you look so much younger."

The next day was the same except the occasional stare I received from the same guy- so I asked him.

"Do I have something for you?"

"Actually, I like you," He said looking more smug than ever. "Go out with me."

I was shocked, i didn't expect the first guy to ask me out would be here and such a weirdo.

"Ah, I'll think about it." I said walking away.

I was stuck in the middle whether to go out with him or not- wait hold up, how does a thirteen year old date in a youth detention facility.
