Samantha
A heavy crash above my head shook me out of my sleep. I stared up in the darkness, searching around me for something that slipped off the night stand or was kicked off the bed. Nothing. I could vaguely see the outline of Stephanie's snoozing body on the opposite wall. As I scooted back under the blankets, another boom landed on the ground.
It had to be above this dungeon. I had never heard any movement or sounds before. These walls, floors, and ceiling were pure concrete so noise was never heard outside of the hatch. Out of the corner of my eye, Stephanie was rolling around. She heard it too. My fuzzy brain cleared as soon as I remembered what Arnie had mentioned during their date.
A new girl would arrive tonight.
From what I understood from Stephanie's nervous rambling, the only thing that had prevented Arnie from wanting to sleep with us was the missing girl. Maybe his perverted mind needed a foursome in order to get off. I don't know. The thought of his minions kidnapping another victim was difficult enough, but now he wanted to consummate 'our love?' Eww!
"What is that?" Stephanie grumbled.
I pushed the covers back and blindly slid my feet into my slippers. "I think it's his new girl."
"Shit."
It was barely audible over the blankets moving and mattresses squeaking. Stephanie and I linked arms. I huddled a few inches behind her, squeezing onto her hand for some feeling of comfort to come back. It didn't. Together we crept into the main room, where the sounds above us only got louder. Bangs, bumps, cracks, and what sounded like thunder rumbling on top of our heads. I swallowed, only to find my throat was dry.
The hatch doors were thrown open. There was grunting, muffled shouting and screaming, and something was being dragged across the floor.
Oh, God. It was really, really happening.
Torro stepped down first. His leather jacket squished like Styrofoam. The metal snaps on his combat boots was the soundtrack to our horror movie. Once his body was fully in sight, Crook began to enter. Their bodies turned to face us and between their hands was a body held in midair by feet and arms.
Crook dropped the feet and the body began flailing about. Torro adjusted his grip under her armpits, which kept her stationary, but didn't stop her effort to get free. Crook pulled the light string and the artificial fluorescent glow filled our living room.
The girl had a paper bag over her head, just like us. Her hands weren't tied with any rope. Strange. She was wearing a miniskirt and a baggy tee. The old Samantha would've tore her apart for her outfit decision but now all I wanted was to run up to her and give her a hug and let her know that we would help her as much as we could.
But I couldn't do that. I could hear her muffled screaming and crying. She was absolutely terrified for her life and there's nothing I can do to help. My own eyes filled with tears.
"Ah, is that my new princess?"
We heard him before we saw him. All movement stopped, except for the poor girl still kicking and twisting and shoving about. Arnie took slow, delicate steps until he stood in front of everybody. With his bathrobe and boxer shorts, Arnie must've just gotten out of bed too.
He gestured to the hatch doors. "Crook, lock 'em up." Arnie took one step to the left as Crook scurried up the staircase and guarded the doors. "Now, why don't we have a seat, doll?" Arnie wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulders and led her to the sofa. Torro dragged her over by her wrist and lumped her onto the cushions.
